This will be my last post on Lemmy...

I'm an idiot and it's hard to explain but this announcement explains it pretty easily.
It functions on the fediverse, just like Lemmy, but is a different platform/front end. They function damn near identically but Piefed has a more active development team that actually responds to requests and a dev team that isn't transphobic as hell. That's the selling point for me. I think the only feature that's not available on Piefed that I use pretty often is being able to paste images into text blocks. Fairly sure they're working on that too. You can upload them, there's a clicky for it, but it just won't automatically upload and paste the link like it does on Lemmy. Literally the only thing "missing" that I've noticed.
What did the Lemmy dev team do that was transphobic?

Unfortunately, the time has come for me to leave Lemmy. Time will show where we all end up. I'll see you in the future... maybe sooner than you think?
Edit: Follow up post is here. Don't worry. You're not getting rid of me that easy. I'm just switching to piefed.world

Any chance they'll become fully interoperable? I mean, besides the standard fediverse account stuff. Ideally, being able to scroll my All feed on piefed and seeing Lemmy posts in there. I just don't want to go back to a ghost town like the Lemmy of 2 years ago.
Also, thanks for all the posts! You and Picard were the backbone of this place in the bad old days.
EDIT: I just noticed a piefed post in my feed. The future is now!
EDIT EDIT: It was a piefed user, I'm dumb.
wrote last edited by [email protected]They fully work together. You can see piefed posts on lemmy and vice versa! From my understanding anyway. Just go to lemmy.world/c/[email protected] or something and you should be able to see posts with no issue.

Are you using an public instance? I had hosted one myself for a year or so but google found out. And when i moved to my raspi in my apartment they did found that out too pretty quickly. Did everything as stated in the docs i believe.

YouTube keeps showing me offers to give me two months premium for free, but when I click it they offer only one.
I'm pretty sure this is illegal in the EU but I can't be bothered so I stick with the ad blocker and reset the cookies every once in a while.

I use a public instance which is https://inv.nadeko.net/. Same issue also happens with public instances so you gotta keep switching backends

I use boost on my phone too! Definitely waiting for implementation from Ruben. But I don't mind waiting. The dudes a superhero as far as I'm concerned.
Big big shoutout to Boost for Android. FANTASTIC APP and my favorite by far.
Oh please tell me it's actually in the works. I want to switch to piefed but I've been a Boost user for years and every time I try to get used to something else I'm just reminded how much I like Boost.

I'd be more than willing to throw them a couple of euros each month. But paying like 14 per month for something I get for free now is just too much.

That "biological man" term is so fucking annoying. I know, I know, it's because of transphobia, but "trans woman" already covers that!

Man you made this post and commented with all your Alt accounts, nobody cares bro.

I've got some philosophical disagreements with the Admin of piefed.social. Nothing negative or anything, we just disagree on a few things and see things differently. Mostly on memes. Lemmy.world and piefed.world I've been lucky enough to have great experiences with which is why I'm sticking around, despite probing from admin buddies of other instances to go to their lemmy or their piefed. Including one particular admin of dbzer0 who wants me to move over, the lovable asshole.
What's the issue with memes? I have a piefed.social account set up for when the platform is mature enough for me to bail on Lemmy, but I'll happily go elsewhere if there's a good reason.

That's been my feeling all along. $5-10 per month I can justify, but I really can't justify $23/mo to cover both my and my wife's accounts, especially given that they reportedly still sometimes show ads to premium subscribers. And honestly when they were getting really pushy about subscribing a year or two ago I refused because I don't give in to pushiness like that by tech companies

We just feel differently about how or what memes add to the fediverse. It really is just a difference in philosophy. As far as I'm aware, there are no serious differences. It's just minor. Rimu and I had a discussion about it a while back and there's no bad blood or anything, we see things differently on the Fediverse. Rimu, from what I can tell, prefers things to be a bit more conversational and discussion based. I like things to be a blend of discussions and memes. That's really about it.

Ah, okay. As long as .social is just limiting hosting memes, not blocking them from elsewhere, I don't have a problem with them. I'm with you, I think memes have their place.

They've been making money off my private data for years, I ain't paying for shit now

I’ve been on YouTube Premium since it was YouTube Red, and I’ve never seen an ad when I’m logged in.
I justify it because YouTube Music is included, so I can get music streaming without paying for a similar service from Spotify or Apple or Amazon or whomever, and also get ad-free YouTube on all my devices and whatnot.
