This will be my last post on Lemmy...

Are you using an public instance? I had hosted one myself for a year or so but google found out. And when i moved to my raspi in my apartment they did found that out too pretty quickly. Did everything as stated in the docs i believe.
I use a public instance which is https://inv.nadeko.net/. Same issue also happens with public instances so you gotta keep switching backends

I use boost on my phone too! Definitely waiting for implementation from Ruben. But I don't mind waiting. The dudes a superhero as far as I'm concerned.
Big big shoutout to Boost for Android. FANTASTIC APP and my favorite by far.
Oh please tell me it's actually in the works. I want to switch to piefed but I've been a Boost user for years and every time I try to get used to something else I'm just reminded how much I like Boost.

Unfortunately, the time has come for me to leave Lemmy. Time will show where we all end up. I'll see you in the future... maybe sooner than you think?
Edit: Follow up post is here. Don't worry. You're not getting rid of me that easy. I'm just switching to piefed.world
I'd be more than willing to throw them a couple of euros each month. But paying like 14 per month for something I get for free now is just too much.

you should have a look at this https://lemmy.ca/post/26211900
That "biological man" term is so fucking annoying. I know, I know, it's because of transphobia, but "trans woman" already covers that!

Man you made this post and commented with all your Alt accounts, nobody cares bro.

I've got some philosophical disagreements with the Admin of piefed.social. Nothing negative or anything, we just disagree on a few things and see things differently. Mostly on memes. Lemmy.world and piefed.world I've been lucky enough to have great experiences with which is why I'm sticking around, despite probing from admin buddies of other instances to go to their lemmy or their piefed. Including one particular admin of dbzer0 who wants me to move over, the lovable asshole.
What's the issue with memes? I have a piefed.social account set up for when the platform is mature enough for me to bail on Lemmy, but I'll happily go elsewhere if there's a good reason.

That's been my feeling all along. $5-10 per month I can justify, but I really can't justify $23/mo to cover both my and my wife's accounts, especially given that they reportedly still sometimes show ads to premium subscribers. And honestly when they were getting really pushy about subscribing a year or two ago I refused because I don't give in to pushiness like that by tech companies

We just feel differently about how or what memes add to the fediverse. It really is just a difference in philosophy. As far as I'm aware, there are no serious differences. It's just minor. Rimu and I had a discussion about it a while back and there's no bad blood or anything, we see things differently on the Fediverse. Rimu, from what I can tell, prefers things to be a bit more conversational and discussion based. I like things to be a blend of discussions and memes. That's really about it.

Ah, okay. As long as .social is just limiting hosting memes, not blocking them from elsewhere, I don't have a problem with them. I'm with you, I think memes have their place.

I’ve been on YouTube Premium since it was YouTube Red, and I’ve never seen an ad when I’m logged in.
I justify it because YouTube Music is included, so I can get music streaming without paying for a similar service from Spotify or Apple or Amazon or whomever, and also get ad-free YouTube on all my devices and whatnot.

Boy I sure don't understand jokes... I better comment to show how much it went over my head.

If the "joke" is told poorly, no, I do not. Sarcasm via text is an art.

Good for you, but it doesn't take much searching to find "I pay for premium, why am I seeing ads?"

I demand my M&Ms be gendered and fuckable!

How do I subscribe to a user or community on piefed.world and see it in my lemmy.world feed?

Meh, I decided to just pop for Premium. I realized that of the online streaming services, YouTube is the one I use the most. And Premium gives me access to YTMusic as well as GMM which was paywalled back when Premium started. And all for the same basic price as Netflix, Amazon, or Hulu which I barely use and therefore dropped.

Paste the link to it into your search bar and it should pop up like a normal community.
You can't follow users from lemmy (yet). -

I've had it for years with a group of friends and even with the price increase, it's still well worth it (maybe $6 converted).
It's the only media subscription I have and I use it every single day.
I don't get this extreme hatred for asking money for such a massive service. YouTube streams unfathomable amounts of video and there's no way it's a profitable business to begin with.
