Yeah, at least they (supposedly) have a chat to propose stuff. I already proposed EU-hosted Lemmy instances. What is matrix, by the way? First time I heard of it.

Its a chat protocol with encryption build in. Its like Discord and/or Whatsapp like.

Afaik they are the only ones currently who at least anonced that they want to implement the DMA (EU law) enforced WhatsApp chat interoperability: https://element.io/blog/the-eu-digital-markets-act-is-here/

There is a reason for the missing federation outside.

At least the one for Health Services is limited to licensed Healthcare Professionals so you know for sure you only communicate with other licensed professionals, and also you know that the displayed name is the real one

How would we use your link? We go to the search page. In your web browser, look for a search icon at the top right of the page. On mobile, you may need to open up a context menu to find the search icon. You can probably just go to https://yourservername/search and get the same search page.

Copy your link and paste it into the search box, then press on the Search button. To save time for the future, you can make a bookmark to the search page.

@[email protected] has an interesting suggestion for using a central server. One risk could be if the central server tracks users, then we would send everyone through an extra layer of tracking. Let us look at that server's hosting.

They aren't federated, but I found alternatives for Duolingo: Busuu, which is currently based on UK, and Babbel, that is currently based on Germany.
