Canada detects China-linked campaign targeting Freeland
-
Summary
A Canadian task force detected a "coordinated and malicious" online campaign linked to China, targeting Chrystia Freeland, a candidate to replace Justin Trudeau as prime minister.
The campaign was traced to a WeChat news account linked to the Chinese government, with over 30 accounts participating. China’s embassy has not responded, but Beijing has denied interference allegations.
This follows previous claims of Chinese election meddling.
Freeland stated she "will not be intimidated." Trudeau remains PM until a new Liberal leader is chosen on March 9.

Not a bad vote of confidence. I hope she’ll keep it competitive with Carney.

Carney has the best chance IMO, a lot of people associate her with Trudeau. They won’t even hear her out

A lot of people associate Carney with Trudeau as he’s been advising Trudeau for a while now.
A lot of people think Freeland was the best part of the current government.

Really? Everyone I talk to is still stuck on this https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/freeland-disney-plus-1.6815024 appologizing doesn't change the fact that she's so out of touch she thinks cancelling a streaming service will save your finances. Not someone I would trust during trying economic times.

She just quit her role in the government because she didn’t like how the Trudeau government was spending money.
I think most people are able to keep up with that.
