That is going to be awful.

I can totally see him slapping Cato, his man servant. Unless, of course the character is edited out due to modern audiences. Which is not as improbable as it sounds.
Beating a servant was funny in the 1960s

I have no strong memory of the one they did with Steve Martin. However I think they switched it to something like his assistant didn't they? Or did they just do away with it all together? Either way it was completely forgettable compared to the originals. And even the originals overstayed their welcome a bit. The Last of The Originals didn't even have Peter Sellers in it. And the son of the Pink Panther which at least tried to have some sort of continuity was awful.
Hell even the Pink Panther movies themselves were a spin off of another movie which was much better. If you haven't seen it you go watch a shot in the dark. That's where Clouseau got his start.

It makes me sad that the Pink Panther is what globally shaped Peter Sellers profile. He was such a remarkable talent, yet so often gone to waste. If you’re thinking about rewatching a Clouseau, maybe better check out Being There, it’s his last and greatest movie.

I may have to do that. As a child of the seventies and '80s. The Pink Panther movies were a staple. As well as the cartoon LOL. None of the new attempts at cartoons or movies has ever seemingly struck the same chord. It's probably all Nostalgia I'm sure. But yes both Nivens and sellers had much bigger filmographies

remaking antiquated nonsense – say you're a soulless banker by saying you are a soulless banker.
I love inherited wealth. No meritocratic complexity, no business acumen, hereditary stability's return on investment is so easy. Good stories are irrelevant. The sure investment is to inject the hoard with a stream of slop that sets the baseline expectations. If they must watch the maximum amount of nonsense to find a gem barely sufficient to retain them while wasting the maximum amount of time, they will eat at the troughs of bankers of industrial artistic slaughter and there is plenty of art in execution

I love Eddie, have since about 1980. Had his stand-ups on cassette, listened them repeatedly in the car.
Man can be a comedic genius. But he's not Clouseau, I just don't see it.

Speech trainer: "Repeat after me. 'I would like to buy a hamburger.'"
Eddie Murphy: "Hercules! Hercules! Hercules! Eh eh eh eh eh!"

I am a big Eddie Murphy fan. I even like Pluto Nash (in a so bad it's good way).
I can't see this working.

Didn't they already remake The Pink Panther with Steve Martin? I'm so old the terrible remakes are getting terrible remakes.

Pluto Nash is awesome, nothing wrong with it. I don't understand the low score it has on iMDB etc.

“Being There” is as valid now as it was then. I liked the book and the movie.
Sadly the book is still copy-written, but copies are easily bought, in libraries or found .

wrote last edited by [email protected]Pretty sure Pink Panther is an exclusively white comedy. I'm sure Murphy can create a great version centred around his style, but I've always preferred efforts to make new content rather than reusing and drastically adjusting old content. He and co. should write a new script instead. You don't mold the foot to fit the shoe, and when movie producers do, it's a mutilated and often ugly result.

honestly, who cares about franchises. they get more milked than any cow out there (sarcasm) but its great to have a new face for a familyish style comedy

I can only imagine how this will end up like Dr. Doolittle and The Nutty Professor. You know how bad you have to be to make Jerry Lewis look good?
Steve Martin didn't even pull it off.

Sadly, I'm pretty sure that the last Peter Sellers movie released was "The Fiendish Plot of Dr. Fu Manchu".
Being There was brilliant, though.
