The FBI and NSA actually advocated for end to end encryption recently. So either they have finally come to their senses or they have acquired the ability to break everything easily.

It's dumber than that. They've gotten on board with E2EE, because there's Chinese threat actors in US telecom networks, and they still can't get them out.
So they haven't come to their senses so much as accepted that they've been pwned and are doing triage.

Oh great, let's just give Farage and co. a big old back door to spy on us when he inevitably stumbles into power. Can't see that being abused in any way.

The Brits just love being rolled over the barrel by their government. Again and again. They just shrug and take it.

Now is not the fucking time to give governments unlimited access to user data. If the UK has it, the US will have it too.

E2E doesn't even matter to the US gov now that 19yr old interns are leaving the backdoors open to every encryption key possible per president Melon Puff.

That shouldn't matter to the open source encrypted chat apps because their code can be audited by anyone. Just another reason to ONLY use fully open source software when dealing with anything cryptography related.
