China is the lesser evil.
Don't you liberals believe in supporting the lesser evil?
Ergo propter hoc. Nice try though.

Literally Orientalism.

That said, China's firewall has been vindicated by the plague of fake news and propaganda that lead to the election of Trump. When you allow the internet to go unfiltered, corporate and far right interests will fucking destroy it and fill it with lies to manipulate the masses. Do I need to remind you of the time Facebook triggered an ethnic cleansing campaign?
And our media is still being censored! It's just that our censorship is the market forces that promote certain messages and suppress other messages. So far right talk shows get promoted, while Colbert gets canceled.
Is google today after what the free market has done to it?

Post hoc ergo propter hoc is an informal fallacy that states "Since event Y followed event X, event Y must have been caused by event X."
What the hell does that have to do with China being the lesser evil?
-
Younger maybe, but not sure if lesser.
I remember reading a Chinese translation of Open Veins of Latin America, the translator asked a Chinese entrepreneur for his opinion about Europeans exploiting Latin America, the reaction was “well we are just late to this game”.

Maybe China will prove it's just as evil as the West, but it hasn't so far. Insisting it inevitably will is just speculation, because the Chinese development banks that loan to the third world are less evil than the IMF/World Bank, and the Belt and Road initiative is less evil than Western free trade agreements.

Your premise is that China is the lesser evil, therefore liberals should support China because (whatever reason you decided because liberals). Though I do appreciate you looking up the argument to understand it. It’s not a perfect analogy, but close enough.

Literally Orientalism.
Orientalism is quite the broad stroke, generalising quite a bunch of very diverse cultures. You are wandering dangerously close to racism here, buddy.

Literally Orientalism.
I thought Winnie the Pooh was orientalist?

Because liberals believe in supporting the lesser evil within their own nations. Am I wrong?
I'm just applying that same principle internationally.

i.e. Westerners portraying Xi as a yellow animal

A bear not an animal.

China is the lesser evil.

Only as long as its a pro-empire/pro-western lesser evil, the double think on these liberal instances should be studied
-
Go to China then and be happy.
I'm on your side in this but that's a crap argument.
Akin to when Americans ask for free healthcare and people say "well go move to Europe then!"

The way you speak of China like a person is confusing to me. Are you talking about the people? The government? Xi Jinping?
"less evil" is also a very low bar.

Your mom is lesser evil.

Oh, I've mostly stopped arguing with tankies. I'm just trolling a little at this point.

TIL the Chinese people on Weibo that originally created and spread the meme are "Westerners".
Oh boy, look at what rather unfortunately named character they compared President Obama to! I bet if we were evil imperialists we'd claim that was intentional and a disgusting example of racism. Can you imagine the kind of person who would make such a bad-faith argument?
Good thing we're not like those guys, eh comrade?

There are definitely good traits and much to be said about China's accomplishments. But it's just the same old empire story. Even if it's the lesser evil, how long will that last? How far from the Golden Path will each new generation stray? Corruption and rot has always been historically given.

Are you applying it as a negative to libs? If so, then my reply stands. You created an argument via propter hoc… and it should be discarded. If you intended something different them you should reword your argument to something more substantial than “libs choose less sucky thing so they should like China.”
