news was never really meant to turn a profit anyway.
Ever heard of capital? It literally creates ideological narratives for profit under a system called capitalism.

They don't even need error or corruption to be unknowingly biased, using hegemonic framing, working within capitalist/racist/patriarchical institutions, etc.
That's the far worse and far realer danger.

they ideally need institutions behind them to protect them and ensure they’re only reporting the truth.
lol you should check out who owns and runs the institutions sometime.

Now there is no one who has my back.
Welcome to humanity.

I'd argue that you've just described one source of error, but it still furthers my point that allowing strangers to tell you what you're seeing and why will not result in providing you an accurate picture of reality, and potentially return a highly distorted one.

I've only ever found Muslims to be at worst civill and at best excellent friends. And I used to live in Luton (highest proportion of Muslim population in the UK). I'm not Jewish though.
Weird question - I've never been able to say for sure if someone is Jewish by looking at them (unless they're wearing a yarmulke or Hasidic getup). I remember someone at work telling me to go talk to Mark, he's the 'obviously Jewish guy', and having zero idea who that was. Even when he was pointed out to me I couldn't see what was different from him and any other dark-haired European. Is this a me problem or are people just projecting patterns?

The ADL is, and always has been, a metastasized cancer in the heart of Jewish culture. Find your local yiddishist group and tell the ADL to fucking take a nap on the beach at low tide.

Basically it means a certain of Mediterranean-adjacent appearance. There is definitely a phenotype, but, like most of these sorts of things, it's a very broadly variable one. This is why I find it so frustrating when people racialize the the Israel-Palestine conflict. People with roots around the Mediterranean all look very similar.

Basically, look at any antisemitic caricature of a Jew, remove the forelocks and the yarmulke, and that's me.

The only good Nazi is a dead Nazi. Moderating this comment is pro-Nazi.

After repealing the fairness doctrine and the conglomeration of news networks into multinational corporations, profit is now all that matters to them.
All those campaign bribes which corrupt our politicians and prevent them from doing things to materially improve our lives? Mostly going right into the pockets of news corps as ad revenue.
It’s a dangerous downward spiral of misinformation, gaslighting, and grifting.

The honest journalism of the 20th century was an historic outlier.

It seems that
Based on what, ADL? What Musk claimed? He's literally the most biased source you can have.

AfD are openly very strong supporters of Israel and pushed for resolutions against BDS in 2019 and now supported an "anti antisemitism" resolution in the German parliament, which is designed in a way that shifts the blame for antisemitism away from German Nazis and onto Muslims and Leftists critical of Israel.
The BDS resolution was already used to silence critics of Israel, disproportionately affecting Jews critical of Israel. Now the new resolution suggests having the interior intelligence screen scientists and artists to make sure they are "without a doubt" not antisemitic, aka they most not have voiced any criticism of Israel. The most cynical aspect of it is that it does mention last years Berlinale as an example for antisemitisim because a Jewish documentary director called Israel an Apartheid state. Meanwhile the resolution does not refer to a terror attack by a Neonazi, who tried murdering Jews in a synagogue in Halle a few years back.
Unfortunately the Social Democrats, Greens, Liberals and Conservatives were all in on it.
The AfD is only displaying the most extreme form of a sentiment prevalent in German politics. Downplay German fascism and antisemitism by the right and center and blame it all on people crirical of Israel.
There is a great podcast about the insanity of Germanys way of dealing with it, interviewing Emily Dische-Becker, who is one of the writers of the Jerusalem definition of antisemitism. The Jerusalem definition is an alternative definition to the IHRA definition with the goal to properly seperate between antisemitism and criticism of Israel.

I'm autistic, so it's hard for me to map those cartoons onto a real face. They all kind of look like captain Barnacle to me to be honest. It's probably better if I don't know, I suppose.
Bottom line though is of course that nobody should be judged on their appearance because that's blatantly stupid. Further, I think, when you break it down, judging someone because their appearance conforms loosely to your idea of the appearance of a population which is most concentrated in a country whose government's military is committing atrocities against a country whose population's appearance conforms to one to which you think you belong... is beyond stupidity and can be nothing short of outright malicious. Fuck that you have to deal with that. Especially since you've been outspoken in your opposition to the crimes of that government. -

That's a really good episode. Honestly, watching how fanatically pro Israel and anti Palestinians the Germans have been during this genocide you'd think deNazification never happened.

It's okay though because Musk and his husband support the right of Israel to do their own holocaust, so they can't be antisemites. It's the anti-holocaust people who are antisemitic! /s
