Something being vital to your security doesn't make it yours. It may also be vital to Denmark's or Europe as a whole's security.
Maybe if you were nice to them they'll let you continue using your military base up there without having to go to war with all the rest of NATO.

So you're saying there's a chance!

15% in support or undecided of being part of the US is pretty high, surprising

Not really, on virtually any poll with enough people, something like 10-20% of people will always be contrarian, no matter the question. You could ask if kicking puppies is evil and 15% would answer “it’s okay sometimes, as a treat”.

Not surprising in the slightest. Greenland has to varying extents been affiliated with the Scandinavias for more than a thousand years now, whilst the connection to the US is... nonexistent.

Canada was similar and I wondered who the hell these Canadians are who want to join the USA, and whether we can make them happy by just sending them there.

Could also be trolls, considering that the idea of a left leaning nation randomly joining a copy of 1930 Germany is pretty bizare

It's the same rhetoric as Ukraine being vital to Russian security.

I've met some of these Canadians. They're conservatives who think Canada is a liberal hellscape and that being annexed by the USA would be a good thing.

If my state wasn’t already part of the US I would not support joining.

Lol. Do you not know what "contrarian" means?
-

Yes, but with trolls I meant people going "What bullshit is that? Hell's gonna freeze before that happens, and this poll doesn't have a real impact anyway, would be funny to vote yes."

President Musk hasn't paid the other 85% yet.

Can parts of the US join Greenland, maybe? Just spitballing here.

That's cute assuming he's going to give you a choice.

What makes it yours is the military ability to conquer it and keep it. Which is why Greenland and Denmark should be vigilant:

Greenland's opinion doesn't matter to him, never did.

The 6% are probably bored people who think that everything is awesome in America, and when they join they’ll get awesome big cars and guns and rockets and superheroes and a Disneyland and cool flavours of Coke they only have in the US.
