Games franchises that need metroidvania spinoffs?
-
Tomb Raider would be perfect for a metroidvania. Good suggestion.

Biohazard might as well be a metroidvania.

Jesus Christ, is there any bit of nostalgia left that's not tainted by those lunatics?
At least I still Harry Potter.
-
Yeah, a Sonic game with gameplay akin to Ori and the Blind Forest would be absolutely top-tier. Ori was largely focused on movement instead of combat, just like the side-scrolling Sonic games typically have been.
-
Punch-Out!
-
It already exists, but the sands of time Metroidvania "Lost Crowns" was surprisingly good.
-

-
Imagine Little Mac training animation with his coach.
He trains by roaming the city, confronting street gangs, fleeing dangerous dogs and finding training rooms to recruit opponents to qualify for the real fights...
-
Omfg I can't believe I forgot about this one. Ecco the Dolphin metroidvania!
-
Check out “Aquaria”. Not quite the same thing, but a Metroidvania playing as a mermaid with song powers. Lots of boss fights! And you can even breech the surface when you get there!
