Canada PM Mark Carney says old relationship with US 'is over'
-
It's not? It's debt to gdp. And no it's not absolutely incorrect. The idiotic comment is bitching and moaning about being a law abiding citizens, and then in the same breath get all pissy about "muh gun rights". Guns aren't a right in canada. The OIC was poorly done imo, but if you're a law abiding gun owner, abide by it?
Alberta's sweep it under the rug isn't a solution. 5 years ago the pandemic started, and it "ended" what 2 years ago? Jfc people born then are still in kinder garden. How long do you think a global pandemic, where capitalist took advantage of everyone, driving the prices higher, will take to recover from?
The underlying problem is right wing government being in bed with the capitalist more so than the left, who at the very least attempt to build social safety nets, and protect the environment from the businesses that attempt to destroy it, right now we have the liberals, who aren't really left anyhow, who are doing better than the cons could, but need to be doing more.
Maybe they need to stop attacking said gun owners with prohibitive lists when THEY ARE NOT A PROBLEM. Legal hand guns? Not a problem. Were they banned from sale? Yeah. Why? Because it’s easy to sell on TV to mom and jimmy that hey, we’re saving you from gun violence. Gun owners have been targeted, unfairly over and over again as a cheep stunt to get votes. It’s old, it’s bullshit and it’s not acceptable. There are real gangs with illegal guns coming in that need to be stopped. It’s disrespectful to all those who are killed by them every time these guys go on a rant about gun safety and ban another rifle. People “bitch” and “complain” because something of theirs is being taken away under false pretenses.
Alberta does NOT sweep it “under the rug”. There is a monitored recovery plan with social interventions. It’s a phenomenal program, and it works very well.
The amount the liberal government spent BEFORE the pandemic was unreal, and during, and after. Now what exactly does Canada have to show for this spent money?
Mark Carney is one person. A rich one person whom is deep in bed with WEF and Blackrock. Two massive red flags. The really problem is most of his cabinet is made up of the same nut jobs that have cost this country countless investments. Steven Guilbeault in particular, and somehow - like magic - the last ten years of virtue signaling and economic sabotage just goes away.
We’re different this time, we promise.
No, they’re not. Just this time he’s richer, has more rich friends, and doesn't have Trudeau in his name.

I read this entire thread and you sound almost like a MAGA from down here. Are you sure you didn't take a wrong turn on the way to r/conservative?
My bingo card:
️ The guvment is too far left and censoring us
️ My guns are being taken away by the libs
️ Drill baby, drill
️ Forced vaccinations are real and against my rights
️ A red MAGA hat
️ The other guy will fix "the economy"
️ Bring manufacturing back here
️ Illegal immigrants are the problem
️ "I like him because he tells it as it is"
️ The incumbent rigged the election
Being against providing a safe space for drug addicts is a new one, though. If they're going to shoot up regardless, isn't it better that their biohazardous needles are disposed of safely and not in a park?
Yeah, no.

I think you’ll see what you want to see. Manufacturing is really never “coming back”. No one tells it as it is - both parties lie. Guns are literally being taken away. Forced vaccinations were a thing here - you had to be vaccinated to go to restaurants or the movie theater, etc. Sure you didn’t “have” to get it, but enjoy sitting at home doing nothing. The “other guy” will not fix the economy. Governments really can’t do that. BUT they can create growth, attract investment and talent through policy.

From my understanding, you have three viable parties. I understand saying "fuck the neoliberals," but then why not pick the third party that isn't endorsed by the insane fascist down here?
I forget which chucklefuck said it, but our administration said your conservative party leader's values align with Trump's, and Trump is threatening your entire country's sovereignty on a near daily basis. If the expansionist "deal maker" who likes to demand mineral rights in exchange for empty promises likes him, I would expect that to be a very good indicator of someone willing to bend the knee and kiss the ring.

I mean, the election isn’t solely about who trump will bully easier - as much as American may think. There are actual policies people are concerned with and trumps just one of many on a long list.

I get that, but I also really don't think it's a good idea to underestimate the importance of having a leader who strongly pushes back against Trump.
America is going downhill fast, and the current administration is highly imperial, expansionist, and corrupt. The "51st state" shit isn't a joke. The government here said "if" they were to take Canada, it would be by economic force instead of military force, and then proceeded to leverage tariffs to create economic pressure on the rest of the continent. They undermine and belittle the Canadian government at almost every opportunity while riling up the conservatives down here by claiming yall are taking advantage of us and being welfare queens who are completely reliant on our handouts and protection.
Trust me, whatever shit you have going on there right now, it's still a lot better than what's happening down here. And as bad as we have it, you would get it even worse as a vassal state. By all means, vote for whoever you want, but at least wait until after the US has played its hand and made its intentions undeniably clear.

They have a museum of African American history, and are preparing a museum of American women. Of course he wants to gut it.

You, and i are not being attacked. Guns aren't a right in canada, they are a privilege. Yes gun violence is an issue. But the way to reduce gun violence is to build a strong social safety net, you want to tackle the root cause? Get rid of the reason people join gangs. Look how effective the war on drugs is, people still use it. Border enforcement will catch some sure, but gang violence will keep happening. The conservatives don't like strong social safety nets so they sell you security theater, just like after 911, it's theater. Talking about money spent? Rebuilding neglected infrastructure takes a lot of money. Kids under 17 get dental and vision care. Cheaper day care those are examples of things that we have to show for it.
Pp's circle is the same as carney's but at least there will be positive social policies, and instead of getting in bed with trump, we will divest.
-
ok so thats cool and all but how do we join? washington oregon california want in
Elect progressives, enact progressive policies and then apply i guess! I'd be happy to have states aligned with our values join canada

I hope you're right about who suffers the most, we deserve it, and I hope the rest of the world prospers while we languish in our just desserts.
No desserts. Just languish.

This is the worst part (for US), it tooks them decades to build a solid and trusted relationship with the western world, and within 3 month, all of that is gone.
It's not Canada or Denmark which will suffer the most from-it, but US themselves

I get what you are saying but at the same time as a Canadian that comes across as more American-centric myopia.
We are a small country in terms of people with only nominally more people than the state of California spread out over a landmass 1.6% larger than the US. Our energy infrastructure fully connect through our own country and due to American strong arming a lot of our manufacturing industry is not super robust. It's the Goose next to the Eagle. We're tough enough to defend ourselves and make it hurt to attack us but we aren't getting anything out of this fight. For us it's a fight for our lives not a fight we can profit off of. Whatever wounds we take in this fight will soften us up for the regular problems we fight. The forest fires that have become exponentially worse through climate change that have erased entire cities off our map. The healthcare crisis of a mass of retiring boomers needing more care in a system that has constantly under fire from Americanizing rhetoric that has caused disinvestment from an ethically better system. The protectionist rhetoric that comes with conflict which will erode the systems of government and create legal precedent for more autocratic means of operation that will need to be later undone. The pausing of reconciliation efforts with indigenous nations. This conflict, even as it is now, will cause real trackable losses of life and livelihood some of which will not come back.
Our existence and future as a sovereign nation is threatened but nope "The US will be the real victims of this"? Bloody fucking tonedeaf mate.

Mind your languish.

To be fair, it really started in 2015 when trump started his first run. His first term definitely brought attention to the rest of the world to ask if we were really this stupid. A second term is just a confirmation.
-
Unfortunately the tools of statecraft aren't all that granular. To make the Trump regime suffer, many Americans will suffer even if they don't support Trump.
Yes, it's unavoidable that we all have to suffer because of his regime. Same deal with the Russian sanctions.
