One of my favorite stories is that Mila Jovovich auditioned for The Fifth Element and was turned down from her first audition. Some time passed, and she happened to be eating breakfast at a hotel in some sort of misery state, hungover, tired, dressed in sweat pants, just trying to survive the morning, and Luc Besson saw her at the table and said THAT'S THE ONE. He walked up and asked her to audition again, and she wanted to rush to get dressed up and back into actress mode, and he stopped her saying more or less that the character needed someone who could represent her in full no makeup possum mode, and he would prefer if she auditioned in the same way. She sort of reluctantly agreed and the rest is history.

        What did he do?

(I mean other than leaving his wife for a person he was in a position of power and control over who he had started hooking up with.)

          Because he's a creep

Besson's second wife was actress and director Maïwenn Le Besco, whom he started dating when he was 32 and she was 15 after having met 3 years earlier.[43] They married in late 1992 when Le Besco, 16, was pregnant with their daughter Shanna

Le Besco later claimed that their relationship inspired Besson's film Léon (1994), where the plot involved the emotional relationship between an adult man and a 12-year-old girl (played by then 12-year-old Natalie Portman).[43] Their marriage ended in 1997, when Besson became involved with actress Milla Jovovich, then 19, during the production of The Fifth Element

Edit: And the multiple rape and sexual harrasment claims

He has a long history of dating / marrying very young women. His first wife (the one you referred to as getting left) was 15 when they officially started dating. He first met he at the age of 12. She was pregnant by 16.

There's also the weirdness of how his movies portray age gap relationships. The professional in particular is often criticized for how it both sexualized a young girl & portrayed her as the instigator. Natalie Portman has talked about how this movie brought her fame and long lasting trauma. Plus the original cut was much more problematic & the studio cut quite a bit before it was released -- so bussons original vision was even more pedophilic. Plus it is supposedly inspired by his real life romance with a 12 year old.

Here's a link to a essay that goes a bit more in depth: https://faroutmagazine.co.uk/luc-besson-leon-the-professional-truth

Edited to add: there are also the many rape allegations from various women who have worked with him over the years.

              Jesus Christ

I hadn't known this. I would have been happier being able to enjoy The Fifth Element without it... I guess in retrospect, The Professional is a pretty bizarre and creepy movie without needing to know that it had a horrifying back story.

Rich lady cries about not getting a job. This isn’t worth writing an article about.

It goes to show how the even richer dipshits in charge of Hollywood don't know how to make a good decision if it bit them in the ass. The far more rich and famous person got the job over someone more qualified.

But no, you go off about how all bad things are equally bad and completely miss the forest for the trees...

Don’t need an article to see that. Look around.

It’s a nothing burger of an article just more clicks to keep the wealthy and famous in people’s headspace.

Yes, The Fifth Element and La Femme Nikita are outstanding films, Leon is worth watching for Gary Oldman but the lolita stuff was completely unnecessary.

Am I tripping or is this the girl from Mean Girls who can tell when it's raining?

If that's her I'd have given her the job just because Mean Girls was so good lol. She's no Lizzie Caplan (A-wooo-ga!) but she still rules.

Again, way to miss the forest for the trees. There is valid information to be had, but nooo, it's just celebrity drama... You would've probably called MLK Jr just some priest saying godly things, too...
