Why is Lemmy attempting to radicalise people to enforce class wars?
-
There should be no class war. A community that fosters it is not helping.
No war but class war.

wrote on last edited by [email protected]Sure it should not but it sure is needed and does exist whether you engage in it or not.
Who doesn't pay appropriate taxes?
Who helps the community?
Who destroys the climate in the pursuit of profit?
Who denies you healthcare/youth care/eldercare when you need it?
Who engages in wars in which they don't fight the enemy?

There's your problem, by denying the need you are helping the opressors.

Hmmm, the CIA is against class warfare (in the sense that you are using it here).
Different servers have different communities. You should look at the local timeline of various servers to find a server that perhaps suits you better than lemmy.world
You should also subscribe to communities on various servers to see the kinds of things you enjoy. Like cats or aww. Various birds always seem to have a lot of engagement across the Fediverse.
Class warfare exists whether you engage in it or not. When capital gains is taxed less than salaries for labour, that's class warfare. When the success of a government is measured by the gains of investments like stocks and real estate rather than the economic circumstances of the majority of the people, that's class warfare.
There's a fair history of security services acting as agents provocateur infiltrating socialist and trade union movements to split them apart get evidence or 'intel' to imprison leaders. Certainly in the UK that was a part of their union busting tactics. So it is something to be aware of.
I'm not sure that is what is happening on here though. I'm also not sure if that's what OP was referring to.

At this stage the whole Lemmy project feels like a CIA experiment, part of some as-of-yet unknown group of experiments / operation given a vague name. All the content is on the extremist-side, enforces attitudes perfect to embolden class wars and young people (no doubt the majority of people here) aren't worldly enough to know the difference. It's full of AI-generated political memes and comments.
Where's the trove of knowledge? The awesome positive hobbies? If it's around, it's all drown out by the manipulative noise.
This could be easily fixed in the coding of Lemmy, but... it hasn't.
I'm becoming very di-senlightened by Lemmy, Let the abuse and downvotes ensue.
I am really confused by the community this was posted in. Is it a genius shitpost or someone not understanding how social media works?

PS the Fediverse in general skews a bit older. It's generally the more tech savvy people that have become exhausted by big tech platforms.
Precisely. I’m a millennial, and this place has a decidedly millennial vibe. Linux nerds, privacy advocates, people seeking an alternative to the slop of mainstream social media. I would imagine people under 25 are a rarity here.

wrote on last edited by [email protected]IMO Lemmy has revealed that people around the world are more left-leaning and class conscious than I thought back when I was on R*ddit.

Yes, unironically and openly, I support and advocate for class war against the capitalist class. The capitalist class wages their class war against the working class every single day in every single facet of modern existence. It's well past time we start fighting back as an exercise of our own individual and collective self-defense. Class consciousness should never have been controversial, and it is only controversial because it encourages people to challenge capitalism.
... and young people (no doubt the majority of people here) aren't worldly enough to know the difference.
You don't need any political knowledge to know my positions. I am literally an anarchist, and I have said so loudly and often. Like me, most of these "extremists" are open socialists and communists and will readily tell you their views and ideologies (many of whom I emphatically disagree with from their left, but I somehow suspect you would consider me just as "extreme", namely for challenging the utility and inevitability of capitalism).
Where's the trove of knowledge? The awesome positive hobbies? If it's around, it's all drown out by the manipulative noise.
Yes, it is a shame that capitalism drowns out all our hobbies, all our positive experiences, everything so completely that we need to waste so much bandwidth drowning out the manipulative noise peddled by capitalists on almost every other platform.
It's full of AI-generated political memes and comments.
I don't recommend completely blocking yourself off from politics forever, but if you really need to take a temporary break like everyone deserves, I recommend making an alt account with all political communities and posters blocked. But keep in mind...you might be done with politics, but politics is never done with you. In particular, capitalism is never gonna ask your permission to use and abuse you.
And really, this is a special case of the fact that you need to curate your own feed. Some other social networks do this for you in ways that compromise your privacy and, frankly, brainwash people into accepting the neoliberal monoculture.

Leaves echo chamber ahhh WTF!
I post hobby stuff I'm working on. Everybody seems to care very little. I try to say stop being assholes and people hate for it.
Bias here seems typical for tech geekigarchy. After 2 years on Lemmy – echo chambers are also self selecting and self filtering.

This is by far not the first time aswell. I've noticed that there are a lot of people that seem to interpret this community as "a place to post your random shit to".

Lemmy is best enjoyed with a very extensive blocklist.

Using Lemmy over Reddit is already an ideological choice for many of us, ergo you will find people with a stronger ideological backbone here.
-
Conditions in the English-Speaking world are getting more dire. The US Empire is struggling to prop itself up, billionaires control more and more of the wealth while working class folks control less and less, and more people are getting involved in reading theory and organizing.
-
Many leftist subreddits were shut down and fled to Lemmy, the same has not happened to the same degree for right-wing subreddits.
It's as simple as that, really. I suggest you start reading some leftist theory, I made a Marxism-Leninism Beginner Reading List to help people who want to start doing that (comes with audiobook versions, too).
Also, your insinuation that those of us more politically active must be young and not worldly is infantilizing bullshit.
And yes, I know what community this is in, this is more for others to see if they genuinely have the same questions.

Indeed, scores of manipulative political memes are how one learns.

Sure. Just go to the community and select "block community" in the sidebar. (Or go to the settings -> blocks -> and type it into the search bar).

Thanks, I guess that's the phrase. You have to have the same mentality as everyone including the mods otherwise you're banned. Challenging opinions isn't allowed. In my feed I want to see projects, hacks (in all different kinds of hobbies), things I could do, or other things people enjoy doing, not constant memes about Trump / America that are probably being paid to be put there. If I want the latter, I'd go to facebook.
Keep posting your projects and show it off. If the community resents it, let them go to their silly elitists groups.

Ahh, spoken like a true unworldly young person. I hope you understand in twenty years.

I'm not sure how this could be fixed on the software level? Care to elaborate? Or even better, write up an issue + PR which proposes the "easy fix".
Sure, I'm thinking controls for a better feed that doesn't give voice to the constant political crap, more control over it, better blocking of post bots and AI slop generating bots.
Honestly, I'd rather just look for a better server with less politically outspoken nobodies.
