First they came for steam, then they came for itch.io .

The most the payment processors can do is refuse to work for them. All the free games will still be available and they'll have to find new payment processors.
Like who? You realize there's only a handful and they operate as a single entity, right?

bigoted crybabies
Actually highly organized American religious organizations doing this shit. They've been organizing for a long time and with trump now have a clear path to try and make the entire world suffer under their needs
Fuck the American Taliban
What do you mean "actually?" Religious creeps are most of that category.

My bad, thanks for the headsup. Missed that because of the negation. So yeah my original reply is a mess but that doesn't change that this is existential and the community opposing itch doesn't make any sense.
wrote last edited by [email protected]The community taking it out on itch is definitely misplaced blame and a lack of understanding how much power the payment processors have.

Reminds me of: the venn diagram of religious creeps and bigots is a circle.

Collective shout is Australian, in Taylor's Lakes Victoria

I can’t wait for every piece of entertainment to be flavorless gruel!
I hoard media for many reasons, including this one.

I have a ton of comics, books, and old games/consoles. My dream is to one day have a room dedicated to nothing but disconnecting and retro culture. A room that is not tainted by the current state of everything.
-
Wasn't the activist group Australian?
Yes, but the american payment processors are the ones in power and actually carrying out these punishments. They could've simply chosen to ignore that group and nothing would've happened.

True, given past history it's just a nice excuse

I’m tired of all this far right puritanical bullshit

Keep on going, it's a good dream to have! (Get a good insurance policy too...)

Collective Shout isn't a religious organization, they're a TERF one that basically blames porn for the existence of transpeople and has been trying to ban it from the internet entirely.

The end goal of every authoritarian entity is to control currency. Your access to food, entertainment, medical care, quality of life, etc. all go through your exchange of currency. If they control the currency, they control all of the above. NSFW video games are just a small foot in the door, I can see this encroaching onto every aspect of society soon

European independent payment processor? Nooooo, US's ass is so tasty to kiss...
USA is a lost cause already, but EU still has a chance. Get rid of USA-related anything. Let them sit there and eat corn and watch superhero movies.
Hey, corn is nutritious.
-
Showing opposition is good, if they find the community is so against this maybe they'll not grin and bear the nonsense of the payment processors. They could move to new payment processors, or use crypto to pay.
Imagine a version of the game launchers/sites where you could pay with monero and be anonymous.

They got Andrew Tate off of Spotify, which is a win though...
I can understand if they're fighting human trafficking and such. But going after porn video games, which generally don't feature real people or generally glorify human trafficking etc., I'm not sure why this is part of their scope.
I could also see this group being against Donald "Grab 'em by the pussy" Trump.
I haven't seen the games that are getting targetted. I've heard it isn't all porn games. What's the criteria for removal?

They were originally a Christian organization that has rebranded into a TERF org.
Same shit, different coat of paint basically.

Yeah, so in other words, it's all pushed by the religious. Same shit

The enemy of my enemy is not my friend
Andrew Tate is scum of the earth and Spotify should have dropped him, not the payment processors
Again: payment processors should and must not be the ones deciding what is okay and what is not. Just because they did something accidentally right doesn't make it a good thing

It wasn't the payment processors that got Andrew Tate off of Spotify, it was the actions of the activist group
