The cannibalistic symbolism in Christianity has always been incredibly bizarre to me. It's even more bizarre that Christians don't seem to think anything of it.

i'd guess most christians see it as a symbol for the sacrifice jesus made for them, even though the catholic church official stand is that the bread is jesus actual body and the wine is his blood in the ritual of communion.

i think overall it's just to abstract to register as canibalism, even though people feasting on their saviour is a funny thought.

Because Christians are world champions at taking the most bizarre desert apocalyptic cult ravings and "interpret" them into something which fits nicely with what they prefer to believe instead.

Well the whole theological basis is that Jesus is a perfect sacrifice who you can sacrifice in order to move your sins from yourself to him, and since he's perfect he can take on infinite sin from infinite ritual participants. And then you're sin free and allowed to go to heaven.

Watch out, you're straying close to heresy.

In relation to the process of digestion, the Catholic Church's teaching has been expressed in this way: "The substance of Christ's body is not subject to processes of digestion or to any chemical reactions. The qualities of bread of course behave in their normal way, undergoing a change as they are affected by digestion. Our Lord's substantial presence ceases as these qualities cease to retain those characteristics proper to bread."

I was kind of hoping they'd have an official stance that calories from Jesus bread don't count.

"The Sacrament of the Eucharist is the body and blood of Christ really present under the appearances of bread and wine; if the appearances cease to be present, then the sacrament no longer exists, and so the Real Presence ceases."

"The Eucharistic presence of Christ begins at the moment of the consecration and endures as long as the Eucharistic species subsist. Christ is present whole and entire in each of the species and whole and entire in each of their parts, in such a way that the breaking of the bread does not divide Christ."

Hold on, I figured out a trick for infinite communion wine. Just water it down but occasionally add some Red 40 so it still looks the same. It's theologically sound!

And are they considered bread or meat? Or both, allowing for the world's most compact and efficient sandwich?

                  A) this is the western view
                  B) I first read “sin free” as “free to sin” which actually made more sense to me since the biggest assholes I know are highly devoted Christians.

The central idea is that human sacrifice is effective and symbolic cannibalism is a sacred thing… but LGBTQ people existing is a crime against nature.

It makes sense if you just never think about it.

You just wait. Come Vatican III, my homeopathic infini-wine will be an accepted, nay, mandated part of Catholic mass. They're always saying to be more like Jesus, and what's more Jes-ish than duplicating food to feed the masses?
