What is your experience with your work's insurance
-
They're referring to insurance offered as a benefit through their work.
As opposed to individual insurance you have to pay for entirely by yourself, if you're freelance for instance.
They're not talking about work-accident insurance, aka worker's comp.
wrote last edited by [email protected]Workers comp comes out of taxes or something but end of the day, its an option altho i will say plans provided thru private insurance (work-provided insurance) are more flexible and realistic. Its not always going to be super reduceable to one discrete point in time in which you were at work and became acutely debillitated .
Often even when that happens and you dont know better your managers will subltely coach you into shrugging it off and either taking a slightly longer break or some other nominal concession that influences you to completey screw a future successfull claim, to your vastly differential peril and securing their own financial and professional incentive

- prescriptions: good, small minimal copay but can basically get whatever i need or ask for
- dental: good, annoying minor deductable but overall decent
- disabillity insurance: good
- life insurance: havent used yet and no forseeable dependants or stakeholders in that sort of thing but whatevs
- other medical stuff: havent used 99% of it but orthotics was awesome
I've never have been in a workplace accident so absolutely no experience with my work places insurance.

I can get a collective discount from my work, but it's not worth the trouble. Its only with one specific insurer and I already get a collective discount with my insurer, because I have all my insurances with the same insurer, which gives more discount than my work would offer with a different insurer.

You…you can choose your insurers?

It’s the health insurance that is offered by your employer in the United States.

Access to affordable healthcare is mostly dependent on decent employment. Many people who are employed, many with more than one job, don’t get health insurance. If you don’t have healthcare, it’s simply not affordable unless you’re quite wealthy. I’ve seen hospital bills that listed aspirin at $250 apiece.

It’s an incentive US employers offer in lieu of additional pay or employee rights. One that the employee still has to pay for. When nearing middle age, It’s just generally cheaper than going without. It relies on healthy young people, who mostly don’t really need it beyond regular cleanings/check-ups, signing up to help cover the costs of older workers.

Private health insurance is one of the largest scams ever perpetrated on Americans, heavily contributing to one of the worst healthcare systems of any developed nation.
Tying it to employment is just icing on the cake.

Sounds more like Canada to me. None of those things are covered publicly here, although we were making some slow progress on drug and dental coverage when we had a mildly progressive party sharing power.

Job only offer vision and dental, seems like it would be decent coverage if I could find a provider that takes both the insurance and new patients.

I can't really complain, it covered a couple of life-changing surgeries for me. I wish it wasn't so expensive though.
