To be fair, you can move in any compass direction from any point on Antarctica - except for the south pole

I asked a researcher on mastodon working at the Amundsen-Scott Station last year about how they manage navigation there and they have their own grid system over there, aligned with the prime meridian.
So they dont use polar coordinates? That's a shame

the joke is that all lines of longitude meet at the poles. So everything is north of the south pole. There doesn't exist a east, west, or south of the south pole
