Bro is gonna be a preemptive block. No reason to engage with people like that at all.

Here’s the offensive “bro” speak. What a loser.

I feel like was pretty obvious that "Bro." here was used as an interjection, rather than calling atomicpoet a "bro".

Because he considers the word pro an issue. Did this idiot ever consider that in some communities 'bro' is even considered a sign of respect?

Not that I would respect some snowflake that obviously is wrongly placed in an admin position.

This insanely nonsensical behavior is prevalent in tons of communities, and it should be shunned and avoided. These moderators are not worth a fraction of your time.

He is right, though. He politely asked you to avoid some language at his channel. Why would you downvote that comment?

Downvotes for disagreements were part of the downfall of reddit.

            “Refrain from the bro-speak.”

I don’t see a question here, just an unsoftened, unexplained demand.

Prying into who has downvoted you is just not a healthy habit to get into. If you run your own instance, it's important to just never use that ability.

IMO, this is the kind of DM that is best ignored. I think most of us don't want these communities to work like that; don't give it any oxygen.

Let's be clear - the mod asked that OP not downvote the mods comment asking another commenter to avoid using the word bro. OP never said bro.

Confrontationally DMing someone for a downvote is wild.

Prying into who downvoted what is literally built into piefed. This was unfortunately predictable.

And you can do nothing to stop it. This is why no one likes lemmy. It's ok if you're just casual posting without a care in the world but as soon as you dig into the system you're powerless, you control nothing, you can delete nothing and racist creeps are actually kinda prevalent.

I post for a week and then I delete the account in disgust. Time to repeat the cycle.

Yeah. The big advantage of the fediverse is that "if you don't like it, leave" is practical advise instead of a way for the powerful to shut down arguments.

Unpopular opinion: y'all call everything you don't like "reddit" (while the average Lemmy user is a lot of what people who don't use either dislike about reddit)
