Day 204 of posting a Daily Screenshot from the games I’ve been playing until I forget to post Screenshots

Me and my friend have finally finished our off and on again project of Halo 2 Legendary. Let me tell you, it was hell. The forced Iron Skull for Co-Op on Legendary made it so painful and we got locked in place so many times. I feel like by that point we should have just gone and done LASO lol. I took this screenshot right before the main boss fight. This was literally such a cathartic moment for me and my friend as Halo 2 has been a project since at least last may.
For the boss fight, It was late, and we both wanted it to be over, so what we did was fly a Banshee into the boss arena and just laid into him with it. It was actually a lot of fun fighting the boss with a banshee, and it was definitely a lot easier then the section before.
Throughout the final level, you have to escort this big ass thing called a Scarab. What me and my friend ended up doing was parking our Banshees on the Scarab and riding thing, using it as cover so we didn't have to fight anything. The thing was bouncing around like crazy, but it stayed.
There was also an earlier level we had to play, and we found this bit of flood growth(?) that kind of looks like a face.
I also noticed that the game puts a lot of trust in the player not to shoot their teammates and be a dick. Like this elevator ride up where you're in prime position to inconvenience any Co-Op partners you have.
After this, me and my friend plan to move onto Halo 3 Legendary and then circle back to reach before moving onto 4. I'm sadly still not done with Halo 2 Legendary though. For whatever reason I didn't get the achievement for completing the level Oracle on legendary, and my compulsion to try and get perfection for the achievements won't let me rest until i do. I think i'll try and open a ticket with Halo MCC support first, because i'm extremely sure i was under all the right conditions for my completion to be considered valid. If not, i guess i'll have to do it again. It's a shame because the boss fight on Oracle was the worst on Legendary. Once im finished with Halo 3 though, i get the privilege of saying i beat Halo on legendary (with Co-Op of course)

While I haven't played Halo, I feel you on being stuck on the same level for ages

Recently did a solo playthrough of Halo 2 on heroic and it was a slog. Can’t even imagine trying to do it on legendary.
I knew going in that it has a reputation as the hardest game in the series, but it’s wild just how disproportionately unfair it feels at times.

You can make yourself invulnerable on the Oracle level (at least for the last fourth or so of it) by activating the lift to the room where you cut the cables while off the lift, then activating it again so it comes back down, and letting it squish you. It’ll yeet you to the top of the lift and you’ll be invulnerable for the rest of the level. I don’t know how well it works in co-op though.
It was a glitch that originated in the Halo 2 Vista port and carried over to the MCC since they based it off the Vista port.

Why did you feel the need to be a dick about it? Just block and move along.

My friend and I tried to do Halo 1 legendary as a duo. There's a level earlyish on where elites with invisibility and plasma swords flood your small room. After the second hour jiggle peeking those fuckers with plasma pistols, we finally cleared the room and moved on, only to enter a second room where elites with plasma swords and invisibility poured in 🥲
We have since given up lol

Apparently Halo 2 Anniversary on Legendary is even harder than it was on OG Xbox, due to the way the game runs on modern hardware, so enemies are even more responsive.

Probably played Halo 2 on legendary and bringing back the traumatic memories upsets them, I can't even blame them if that's the case

Hey, if it makes you feel better, it gets easier with time.
My cousin and I have the tradition of running the entire Bungie-era Halos every summer, after three years we somehow got to the point where we can beat H2 in a single day.
You've just got to learn the cheese strats, like the ones you mentioned or skipping the Sniper Alley by going OOB at the beginning of the mission.

Heroic is the fun kind of hard (most of the time). Legendary in Halo 2 is just brutally unfair, and even if you play perfectly it's completely down to random chance whether you'll succeed. As in you're literally at the mercy of RNG in the enemy AI deciding whether you'll be instakilled with no possible defense. Those fucking Jackal snipers....
And it's even worse in co-op because you need to restart from the last checkpoint if either player dies, whereas on other difficulties (or Legendary in the other games) the other player can continue playing and you'll respawn if they make it to a safe area. That one change makes co-op controller-snappingly frustrating.
Beating it in multiplayer is a legit praiseworthy achievement. Either that or a sign of deep masochism.
