However, you're in control: if you don’t want your content to be quoted, you can find the setting to prevent future quotes of your content under Settings -> Preferences -> Other (in Mastodon 4.4).

@Mastodon why don't add Following? it's better that people you follow to quote you because you have choose them than to let someone that you don't know (Followers) quote you

@Mastodon I thought we pretty much universally agreed that quoting is what invited a lot of trolling on x, instead of having to engage in meaningful discussion?

@Mastodon I can't find the feature to moderate comments and/or review them before publishing them under each post I create. Could this be integrated in the future (as an additional feature) or is it already available? Thanks.

@Mastodon That's great and I like the feature, but have you given thought to making quote-posts opt-in and not opt-out ? I really feel like opt-out is a mistake... You've made many things opt-in, like search discoverability, why not this ?
@MastodonEngineering @renchap@CelianGodefroid thanks for the positive words on the feature. We did consider opt-in/out, absolutely. Important note: defaults for post visibility and quotability only impact *future* posts. This means your past posts cannot be quoted. This is different from toggling profile discovery, which has an immediate impact. We're providing an early heads-up for people on these two servers (and anyone on 4.4.x elsewhere) that they can set their default visibility now, to prevent being quoted in future.
