Does piefed pay its admins? Iirc lemm.ee's monthly donations were enough to cover server costs and there were months worth of reserves. Only a dramatic increase in donations (enough to pay the admins) would make a difference and I'm skeptical piefed can reach that

The gift sub option can accomplish this, lets you specify how many months worth of a sub you want then just charges it all at once and emails a prepaid card equivalent.
