New research digs into why batteries in electronics donβt last as long as they did when they were brand new.
The research is kinda interesting, but it's silly to call it new. It's ongoing for as long as there is a benefit to improving batteries, and they didn't find anything particularly illuminating other than heat being generated by other components, which in turn damages the batteries over time.

Isn't the chemustry of lithium batteries like well understood for quite some time now?
-
Yeah, exactly. This isn't news.

Is this generated by artificial stupidity?
-
Yup, this degradation is all well understood. The only value I see is studying how a large portion of people use their devices to identify what the expected life actually is with the abuse they put their devices through.
