Is there a way to redirect voice traffic from WhatsApp and Signal to a landline?
-
Essentially, I want to be able to call/take calls from my physical landline phone over VOIP for whatsapp and signal. I shouldn't need to touch my phone other than to check if WiFi works and the chat client is alive.
If you know how I can get started with this, please let me know.
Thanks!

As far as I know that's not possible for WhatsApp.

If I'm using Bluetooth earbuds I can receive a call from Signal or WhatsApp. So it stands to reason it's possible a Bluetooth device exists to act like earbuds but for a landline phone. I found a few (cell2jack and XLink BT HD) but could not verify if they'd work for anything other than normal phone calls.

There might be a paid way. At work we have our phone numbers tied into zoom which ties into calling other phone numbers. It is used as a backend switchboard. So you could have a zoom number as your signal number which routes to your landline. Maybe.

Yeah I see no reasons why these two wouldn't work. You could get an FXO to to go from that to VoIP, but obviously you're losing encryption (I know, srtp and zrtp are thing but still) unbeknownst to your interlocutor which isn't a very nice thing to do.

In principle, sure. I'm not aware of an existing out-of-the-box solution that'd do what you want, but it also wouldn't surprise me terribly if someone's cobbled something together to do this before.
If I wanted to make something like this personally (and couldn't find an existing solution), I'd start by doing some research into PBX software like Asterisk, what derivatives and extensions people have made for that, etc. -- being mindful that I'd likely be digging into a deep rabbit hole...

In case you have a fritz!box router, take a look at
fritz!app fon
and see if that is what you want. -

Why wouldn't it be possible?
The phone is providing the client app connection, you just need an interface from the client to the POTS system, or just the hardware you're using as a phone.
Years ago I had a cordless phone that connected to the Skype client on a pc - you could call a phone number, or a Skype contact with it.
This is no different - you just need to establish the interface between the hardware and software.

Is there a physical phone that's just a USB device?
If so then you could connect a phone to a PC or tablet
