How many of you use Lemmy and ONLY use Lemmy vs Reddit?

Is anyone here so hardcore that they don't even bother with mainstream social media? If its not on Lemmy or Mastodon it must not be important? Anyone that hardcore?
I never post or browse Reddit anymore, but I'll still look at Reddit search results. There's just too much good information on there that you just can't find elsewhere.

Exactly. Same here. I only see Reddit via Google searches.

Lemmy only. Reddit has become some strange mix of Quora and X or something like that at this point.
It's somehow gotten worse than Quora and I didn't know it was possible.

I maintain a reddit account linked to a burner email so that I can occasionally ask questions that I can't find the answer too elsewhere. Other than that the only social media I use is Lemmy.

Not yet. Reddit and Lemmy are my only social media, I don't use anything else--I only see content from other sites, like TikTok, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, etc., on Reddit or Lemmy. There are a couple of klunky things about the Lemmy interface that bug me, which I've complained about already. And, the Lemmy communities I'm more interested in are not active enough to satisfy me. Lemmy still feels empty, but it's getting better.

wrote last edited by [email protected]I only use reddit anymore for the meta. It's like a zoo. Its users are scarcely self-aware. I know this is conceited but whatever.
I think lemmy being a reddit clone is rather ill-fated but at least for now people generally still post like real human beings. There's something strange about how dialog is basically an algorithm. Reddit is reached some sort of maximum where nothing you can possibly say will deviate the flow of comment sections from the pre-defined talking points. It's like they're all stuck in neurotic thought cycles.
There's a video with Trevor Noah and John Stewart where they talk about how social media is a performance. It's not a "town square" or whatever. It's not really honest in good faith dialog.

I’m a Reddit blackout leaver, never going back. Ever.
Same. I went back and trashed all my old posts by filling them with AI randomly generated nonsense a year and a half ago. Seems to have taken and I dont see my old stuff even anonymously.

lemmy since 2020 and mastodon since earlier this year, I use discord a lot, and a ton of rss feeds. I occasionally check instagram because thats where my wife sends me her memes so I try to remember to get in there at least once a week.
I search for reddit answers when looking for stuff like recommendations but I havent had an account for a few years now -

It’s weird even a few months backI would see vastly more overt racism here than on reddit. I looked at a few subs in reddit’s all recently and the overt racism got intense fast.

Soon as I figure out Lemmy’s porn options I’m done with Reddit forever.
Til then tho, I’m happy to consume Reddit’s content without spending a single cent towards it or any of its advertisers.
isnt there a whole nsfw instance, thats probably where you want to be

that's what libreddit and the like are for. Reddit (for now) just has too many old questions that were answered really well and in depth, or just were the only real findings when looking for answers in small areas.

Don't make me laugh. Options? Lemmynsfw.com and that's about it. It deserves some donations from me if I can figure out the cryptocurrency options.

Proselytize, brother, like the ancient christians and muslims did centuries ago. Use the sword if you have to.

Lemmy
Mastodon
BlueskyThese are my main social media platforms now.
I might hit a Reddit link here or there because occasionally the information I need is posted there (that I found from a web search). But I don't browse that site ever any more.
Deleted Twitter because of elon.
Deleted Facebook after Cambridge Analytica.
Never had Instagram (will never download a Meta app at this point). -

Used to use RiF, stopped when the api bullshit went down and all I use are lemmy and Facebook now.

My 10+ year old account with high karma was perma banned overnight I got into an argument with a power tripping rad left mod. I'm left leaning politically, however if you arent rad left on Reddit then youre a fascist. They love that echo chamber. Honestly one of the best thibgs to ever happen to me. Reddit is bad for your mental health. And their power tripping mods are pretty much nazis
Doesn’t sound too different from Lemmy, except most users are radical left AND radical Linux users.

Lemmy only. Actually, I just can't stand the corpoverse, it's litterally painful for me to browse. The only exception so far is instagram because it's dopamine gold and you can discover a lot of things, but this is less and less true. And with voyager integrating pixelfed in upcoming updates... well i'll just migrate

did you know reddit started shadowbanning new accounts, and old inactive accounts that suddenly started posting. it was a recent thing, it wouldve happened to people who dint use thier old inactive accounts eventually. also reddit have been extremely oppressive with thier filters, and sub filters too.
Honestly, since I found Lemmy, I mostly ignore (or don't even see) Reddit news. Rarely it still shows up when I search things, but I just view those without logging in and don't vote / comment.
