Mullvad's ads are good

What VPN is left that I can use to host my website with open ports 80 and 443 ?
I moved to AriVpn As Mullvad stopped supporting port forwarding. I can recommend Air.

All I have to say to these commenters suggesting OP is a shill:
Chill out and drink a nice, refreshing Dr. Pepper to calm your nerves.

Deep, have a fresca.

When Tailscale turns to shit then we have Netbird as an alternative
I have made a note, thank you!

Ok, I don't really know why I wrote all that because it was pretty clear from context you know the difference. Hopefully it helps others.
For me, Mullvad isn't an option because they don't have port forwarding anymore.
Oh yeah, sorry not trying to be snarky - you are completely right so it is useful information.

Honestly that sounds great. I'm kind of annoyed how often NordVPN keeps emailing me and trying to upsell me on the daily.
The service is fine overall. But the nonstop promotion, along with it being a US company that can easily just give all their info to the US government, makes me wanting to switch pronto.
I don't think NordVPN is American. They just market heavily via American YouTubers. It has Lithuanian roots and is incorporated in The Netherlands according to Wikipedia.

Seen in a SF Muni station
Edit to add: Jeez, relax. I was on my way home from a doctor’s appointment and saw that ad. It made me chuckle so I posted it here.
If seeing this post really upsets you, take some deep breaths and keep scrolling. With any luck, you’ll have fully healed in a couple of days.
I’m happy with proton

Jokes on you, I already pay for Mullvad. AD fucking failure

Are you saying creators should not disclose their sponsors? If so...
I disagree, we need more transparency about finances of companies in the world. If a sponsor can pay somebody like LinusTechTips 40k a video to promote their video, than that means we as a consumer are overpaying for the product.
In a lot of European countries you can just see an annual report of a company which you can use to say filter out dropshippers since they generally spend a lot on ads and marketing.
We aren't going to be able to stop ads on the web unless we start paying subscriptions for everything and that is a good way to get a lot of people into financial trouble.
I also wish we could more easily go back to simple websites with no tracking and barely any ads.Nah I meant the opposite. Journalistic integrity was learned through long, hard history.
Now that traditional journalism is dying, its like the streamer generation has to learn it from scratch, heh.

Mullvad is great, only VPN i'll ever use. I'm just a random number to them. no emails, no names, nothing. Hell I can even just pay them in cash if I wanted. Their service has improved too. on some wifi networks it would take me a couple minutes to connect but now it's instant. Soon as I boot into my WM just "mullvad connect" in the terminal and I'm good to go.
I pay for mine with vouchers, just as convenient as a credit card as long as you renew ahead of time, and just as anonymous as cash.
Wish I could buy them somewhere other than amazon though.

How would anyone be informed of something existing without telling people the product exists
wrote on last edited by [email protected]I agree that ads can help people be aware of a product's existence, but I believe, especially at this stage when I am tired of being spoonfed, that a more organic way is preferable. For example - forums, product reviews (REAL ones ofc), product storefronts including online marketplaces..
When someone needs something, they can go looking for it. A door that grates on a frame for example, may be talked about on a forum, which discusses the products others have found to help. In this case a mouse(shaped) sander. The person can then follow breadcrumbs to the most convenient store that sells it.
This is actually the way I find most things I need. The vast majority of products shown to me, passively on various items in the streets or in video format, are useless to me. Regarding VPNs, I first learned about them when I looked for a solution to a website article having an error page stating that it cannot be viewed in my country. Again when I pirated movies. Eventually I saw Mullvad mentioned on Reddit, when I entered more FOSS and Linux spaces

Still a good VPN for other stuff
Yeah, a service doesn't need to meet everyone's use case to be good. Allowing port-forwarding meant that the VPN was used for crimes that put Mullvad at risk. Hosting websites and torrents is good and all, but it is not the hill to die on with privacy.
If they were secretly making them public, that'd be an issue, but they're just denying people the option.
