I think I saw AI golf club ad in the past. This "AI application" thing is getting incerdibly dumber and dumber.

Seconding this, I'm currently running Proxmox on 3 small NUC-type PCs (two Dell Optiplexes and a Topton from AliExpress). The Topton has a slower Celeron, the two Dells have a i5-6500 and i3-8100t and are both very snappy running a few different containers and VMs (including HomeAssistant).

I wasted 4 months of my life trying exactly that to apply for Lowe's. I not only called twice a week, I also drove there and back, twice a week, 12 miles there and 12 back. So, looking past my wasted time on the phone, 24 miles twice a week is 48 miles a week. For about 4 months. 48 miles * 16 weeks ≈ 768 miles of wasted travel, just to nag them and try as so many others have suggested to just be persistent. It didn't get me any fucking where. Fuck, it cost me more to try nagging them than if I would have just sat on my ass.

I only know SAP because my partner works in master data at an engineering firm but my personal mortal enemy is Pega Client Lifecycle Management. I’ve been through 3 different companies trying to replace some legacy software with it. 2 gave up, current one is in the process of failing. Consultants are probably making a killing though. Those things get away with being clunky because they’re so configurable but I’ve never seen people happy with that configuration.

Small tangent, I didn't have the energy to read your whole post, so you might have addressed that. But often it's cheaper to go with an established multi purpose device instead of building something new. I used to build and sell Raspberry Pi gaming handhelds that were as cheap as possible and literally just held together by some string. My purpose was to get enough money through the sales to ge able to build one for myself. Sure, the building process was fun. But when I crunched the numbers just buying a cheap smartphone and controller was much cheaper and more performant and versatile than the self-built solution. Just buying a cheap phone or tablet is often the cheaper solution. Heck, even Valve just bought off the shelve tablet displays and turned the image in software for the Steam Deck.
