What hills are you dying on?

. The race of a voice actor doesn't matter
. It is possible to wear yoga pants because there comfy
. You don't need to shower everyday
. It is possible to crossdress/be gender non-conforming without being trans
. Monty Python is very overrated
Android is the worst anti-consumer shit I've ever seen in software and should be illegal

Fair, but it still fuels the market. Somebody rescues one. Somebody else sees it and wants one but can’t find a rescue or doesn’t want a rescue, and goes to a breeder.
I'm pretty sure that if someone wanted a pug, seeing one person who did a rescue wouldn't be the tipping point.
And there are people who are trying, through breeding, to reverse the damage done to these poor animals.
So yeah, I think there are ethical ways to own a pug.

People on Lemmy aren't "normal" people and shouldn't use their personal views as the norm.

Really? That’s really surprising to me. I’m from Denmark where we use 24h time a lot so I’m used to it, but except for edge cases it’s easy to switch between them. Using Fahrenheit however is a struggle. I have to convert it every time, I have no idea about the temperature until I see it in celsius really. I guess it comes down to me having been exposed to both clock formats but only really on temperature unit.
Celsius makes more sense for everything but normal to hot temps. 100 being about as hot as is tolerable. 75 being perfect 50 being tolerable cold.

I like spring because its not exhaustingly warm, and I like being outside in rain anyway.

Python sucks.
Not only is it extremely inefficient, it is also a pain in the ass to work with if you have to use APIs that heavily rely on dynamic type wrapping and don't provide stubs. Static analysis via Pylance is not possible then and you're basically poking around in the dark, increasing the difficulty enourmously to get to know such an API. Even worse if there isn't even a halfway decent documentation.

There shouldn't be borders.
I'd one up that and say there shouldn't be countries. The concept makes no sense. US propaganda always tries to make China and Russia out to be the "enemy" meanwhile when its Trump doing bad things, the world also says its the US causing problems. All of the sudden, what one or two bad people do somehow means the whole country is at fault. If we took out all the bad people and chucked them out, we could all just be people. No nations, no nothing—just people.

Most ice cream isn't ice cream anymore. It is frozen dairy product or sometimes not even dairy, sometimes it's just frozen dessert product.
So what is ice cream then?

You don't have to like it for it to be a valid topping.
That's a hill you will die on from old age. I have never once heard someone say pineapple is not a valid topping in a way I thought was meant to be taken literally and not as a hyperbolic way of saying "I don't like it".
Some nice cold grape jelly goes very well on a hot slice of pepperoni. The sweetness and greasyness just go so well together.

I'm gonna have to ask what you define as good because I don't think having emotions is bad, even if you're a baby
That's a good point. Let me rephrase then: I believe all humans are selfish by nature and so inherently are more easily prone to acting out even if it affects others negatively (intentionally). As in, there's probably a reason why the baby is crying sometimes or there's a reason the baby gets angry. Humans have to be taught to tame their demons because without empathy, everything would be an eye for an eye. By default, I don't think humans have it in them to see right from wrong unless they're taught either directly or indirectly. Something something nature and nurture something something. My 2 cents.

How is that true in a way different from other industries? I do think there's no necessity for the race of the VA to correspond with the race of the character. That might be because I don't have a good grasp on the arguments otherwise though.
The argument I've heard in favor of VAs matching their characters is to avoid laundering white perspectives to minority characters, which would make sense if the VA didn't have their livelihood on the line when asked to read from a script written by a cishet white man. I feel like requiring a minority do that makes no difference other than providing a cover of legitimacy for the words said.
But as a cishet white male myself, maybe I'm mischaracterizing the argument, I'd be curious. I have asked my (racial minority) wife at one point a couple years back and she wasn't sure.
It's a given that there are insensitivities in hirings, but I struggle to imagine a way in which that would be unique to voice acting specifically.
How is that true in a way different from other industries?
It is the same in other industries, the dominant race always has better employment opportunities. It's not really specific to voice acting.
At least in VA we are able to actually force companies to hire minorities.

Who sets laws and enforces them? But otherwise totally in favour of returning to monke

Being vegan is a moral base line.
Counter argument, I need to eat and I can catch seafood myself without contributing towards capitalism. Isn't a full diet but its a start. Can make it into a full meal with some rice.

I also dislike Android, but surely iOS is even worse.

How is that a counter argument?

I've said it somewhere earlier today, I'll say it again here. I think Windows XP was bad, and that Vista was good.
But Windows in general is still absolute rubbish anyway.

People without empathy shouldn't have the right to lead people (politics, work, ...).
There should be an upper limit to personal wealth.
Russia should be denuclearised and split up.
There's a vast difference between capability for empathy (as in: feeling someone else's feelings) and acting upon that feeling.

I absolutely hate the package management in it. I can't tell you how many times I've found a cool python project, downloaded it from GitHub then tried to install requirements. And it turns into a huge nightmare of trying to find compatible packages. It'll be like you need wheel v3.1.0 so I try to install that,.then it's like no you can't do that because it's not compatible with numpy v79.84.1 that you have installed. So then you search and try to find which version is compatible, then install they go to install wheel again,.and it's like no you need pandas,.so you install pandas but it like sorry I'm not compatible with the version of numpy you installed.
