Traditionally joining a gang or mafia requires you to commit crime that can be used to control you later on. That is the beautiful part of it. It is a fundamental brain block in like 99.999999% of "The Children".

In an old life I had to deal with this. Maybe one in every hundred interns we had realized how similar matlab and fortran were. The rest just immediately locked down because it wasn't python or, in rare cases, C++.
