Heroic is the fun kind of hard (most of the time). Legendary in Halo 2 is just brutally unfair, and even if you play perfectly it's completely down to random chance whether you'll succeed. As in you're literally at the mercy of RNG in the enemy AI deciding whether you'll be instakilled with no possible defense. Those fucking Jackal snipers....
And it's even worse in co-op because you need to restart from the last checkpoint if either player dies, whereas on other difficulties (or Legendary in the other games) the other player can continue playing and you'll respawn if they make it to a safe area. That one change makes co-op controller-snappingly frustrating.
Beating it in multiplayer is a legit praiseworthy achievement. Either that or a sign of deep masochism.

Thank you for telling me about this. I did a trial run of Oracle with Bandanna on today and struggled so hard. I wasn’t sure how I’d manage without bandana lol. I’m still not sure how we managed to beat it the first time tbh. It must have been luck

Damn. H2 in a single day is impressive. You have genuine respect from me for that.
I’m collecting all the advice people are giving me for my LASO run I hope to do some day. Not sure how I’ll handle that though. Thankfully Halo 3’s Legendary seems a bit more merciful. Me and my friend did the first two levels and it wasn’t that much of a challenge. Honestly part of me misses the crushing challenge that H2 proved a little bit though

There are speedrunners that manage to finish H2 in a few hours, when I say it took a day for us I mean we woke up playing Halo, paused for lunch, and stopped playing after dinner.
What's impressive is that last year our brains didn't melt like they did the years prior *^*Don't you worry, after H2, H3 becomes a breeze, H:R may be more of a challenge but without H2's bullshit. Mostly. I wonder if I'll ever manage to try and LASO some game at some point...

How difficult is Halo 4's legendary? It's on our list at some point so it'd be helpful to know what i'm walking into

Halo 2 on Legendary is a pain. I know you said in your OP you thought you might as well have done LASO, but that is 1000x worse, trust me.
I can carry you through the level sometime, if you want. I’ll test the invulnerability glitch on co-op at some point and see how well it works. My guess is it won’t work due to co-op teleporting.

I don't recall, I've never really liked it so I've completed it twice in my life and only once on Legendary. I remember some youtuber saying ammo is particularly scarce, though I think it's on par with Halo 3? Perhaps slightly more difficult, like Reach.

Man, I was playing Control. My poor laptop was already at its limit rendering the damn game at Medium graphics. But added to that, I was streaming to my buddies.
There's this one level where we are in one of those dreamlike places and I was supposed to jump to climb a slightly out of reach rock. My laptop, bless it's soul, could barely chug along at 10-15 fps. I kept missing the rock and falling down into the abyss. After almost 30mins of this, I legit rage quit and played Papers Please
.Turns out, my laptop's vents were clogged by cat fur (thanks Lisa, my furry baby) and the thermal paste was worse than death valley
.Finished the game a week later. Felt SO GOOD 🤌

That’s how I was with my first Laptop lol. I had a cheapy Acer Aspire with 6 GB of RAM and a Duo Core i3. It lasted me from 2018-2022, when I replaced it with my Steak Deck. That thing suffered through so many games it reasonably should not have.
It ended up in a similar situation as yours with my pet rat, who while I was letting her roam as I cleaned her cage, dragged her Water Bowl over and dumped it on the thing. It survived, but had to be hooked up with an external keyboard and mouse for the rest of it’s life
