US is good at pumping infinite money into the military. But they definitely aren't "good" at war.

yeah the best subs on reddit are almost always at least semi-niche with mods who are serious about the topic but not a-holes. I haven't had many issues with many mods but I still avoid most of the main subs simply because the discussion there is often very weak.
Do you have any recommendations on how to find indie forums? I don't know if there are lists or whatnot out there.

Not addressing the rest of the comment, but ”world leaders should discuss everything behind closed doors” is a dangerously shortsighted take. You do realize their job is to represent you, right? How do you think you can verify they are doing that if you are not allowed to see and hear what’s being said?

Here's an example, the Ray Peat Forum (renamed Low Toxin Forum), I'm not a member/believer of those ideas, but I trawl through their studies sometimes for research with other stuff (better than r/science sometimes), and I love their fights so much:

I take time to sift through results (go a few pages deep to find the lower SEO results) and see if the forums I find mention sister forums. I then will search stuff like, "Is Low Toxin Forum reliable?" and see who is talking about the forum and what they have to say.
This doesn't work super well though for politics, stocks, news, or crypto, I've found - those forums tend to be scammy for some reason. But ironically I've been on several gambling forums and those aren't nearly as sketchy.

I hope that the rest of the world is taking notes and realizing that they cannot rely on the current US government to uphold its side of any prior agreements (or even the basic tenets of etiquette in civil discourse).
I hope that every country that does most of its trade with the US is quietly looking for new markets.
I hope that Republican isolationism actually comes to pass so that the entire population of the US can feel exactly how painful it will be to cut themselves off from the rest of the world. And then in two years, I hope enough people will get off their asses and vote against the people who let it happen.

Ah yeah I was actually talking about non reddit places. I do remember the pre reddit days when those forums were common. Maybe it's rose colored glasses but I do remember the convos being a bit deeper.
Well, hopefully Lemmy or someone figures out how to do reddit better than reddit tbh.

I mean, given this is the first time in history two world leaders have negotiated a peace treaty on live tv, yeah. That is not a good idea. They need to feel Fred to argue and devatd gor hours without worrying about pride and pr in front of millions of people. Bug if you are saying transparency and showing every action on tv by presidents etc then ate you pro Donald trump? Because previous president has been this transparent.
