Germany's Merz tells DW that AfD 'wants to destroy the CDU'
-
Summary
Friedrich Merz, leader of Germany’s CDU and chancellor candidate, warned that the far-right AfD seeks to destroy his party. He emphatically denied any future cooperation with them.
Recent parliamentary votes included AfD support for anti-immigration legislation, sparking controversy. Critics argue that breaking the established “firewall” undermines democratic principles.
Mass protests erupted across Germany over the perceived recklessness of this move.
Merz reaffirmed his commitment to European unity and robust trade policies while denouncing extremist influences threatening traditional values.

Merz is a pathological liar (even more so than the usual politicians), he also has categorically denied cooperating with the AfD and even threatened anyone in the CDU to do so with expulsion from the party, only a few weeks before cooperating with them himself.
If he tells you that the sun is shining outside, better bring an umbrella and a flashlight, because most likely it's actually pitch black night and pouring rain.

As the saying goes: listen not to what politicians say, but watch what they do.
By his own previous public proclamation anyone cooperating with the extremism AfD is to be expelled from his party. If he had decency he would now self-expel.

If he had decency he would now self-expel.
Mentioning Merz and Decency in the same sentence is such grave violation of all laws of logic and human decency that it makes me want to violently expel my stomach's contents.

If he keeps flipping like that we can hook him up to a turbine and use him as a renewable energy source.

But what should we do with the toxic byproducts of this kind of energy production?

Probably shut down all their generating capacity and then hope Sweden can solve the mess they've created for them. Ideally at a point in time when they'd create a massive strategic weakness for Europe.
