Is Lemmy community nice to new users?

Same thoughts here, and I personally don't like things this way
Politics (and Lemmy) showed me how low people can be in order to triumph their own party, It's gross..
on Reddit I couldn't tell if the person I'm replying to or them replying to me are leftists, centrists, or whatever.. that's diversity not being able to predict people, and read them like an open book, because you don't know who they are, what their Philosophy In life is, they'll surprise you with their opinions.. On Lemmy however... I can tune my politics slider however I want, I know what political comments are going to get upvotes and downvotes, or get censored, or get the user banned.. And no, they're not offensive, just not politically correct..
I feel like I'm not taking freely as I used to do on Reddit, ironic but true, conservatives gets downvotes here, that's an understatement, they get flamed and called Nazis.. which I never saw happening on Reddit, people had debates and discussions like yanno.. grown ups!
I remember I replied to someone, and basically said I'm not convinced about their political comment, It doesn't matter.. But this girl replied to me and started saying I'm just like Donald Trump a Liar... lol.. Ok.. I said Yes, I know he's a liar...( I do ) then she wanted me to be an ally (like I guess politically aligned)... And I was like to myself.. I'm I being drafted or something ?!
What makes this all super duper awkward, is that I'm from the middle of no where, I live in the sahara desert.. anyways I rambled.. the point is .. people on Lemmy need to chill with their political stuff, not everyone who disagrees is an enemy or a "Nazi".. or looking for a fight.. Many times people (Normal people) just want feedback.. And it kinda triggers me to see people obviously having blind spots, yet insisting on their bias..

Even when the conversation happens on a “bridge” instance, the users of the instances defederated from each other don’t see each other’s comments. They have an abridged view of the conversation.
-
I've definitely noticed an uptick in anger, but that's happened every time Reddit has pushed users away - nice thing is that they mellow out pretty quickly here
-
I hardly ever check how old anyone's account is. I try to be nice to everyone regardless of who they are, and discuss issues rather than posters.
-
If you arent homophobic, transphobic, anti-communist, in support of china or russia, in support of israel, religious, in support of non-opensource software, against linux, calling a lot of people nazis, or against murdering, then probably
I agree with most of these, but sometimes it feels like you cant disagree with people without them becoming angry
-
Lol I have pointed out that Russia hasn't dropped nuke in Ukraine but America has dropped nukes on Japan.
-
I have nothing against your instance's moderators or users, but I'm not quite sure the admins of your instance follow the same guidelines.
I would really recommend newcomers pick a home instance like db0 over .ml or .world, and be aware of the instance cultures when posting on communities in either. For .ml, avoid criticizing the CCP, and for .world, avoid expressing any desires that can be even remotely seen as "violence".
-
If the worst happens there are many instances to choose from, and it seems easy to get your preferred username
-
This is bullshit, flyingsquid banned me for saying Biden is too old and genocidal and the DNC will lose by running a "everything is fine and you're wrong" campaign. And then it happened. I've blocked your shit instance ever since.
-
You are WAY better than .world
-
What a fucking whinge
-
sure..
-
Yeah, I never said .world is any good either. Both of them have Ye Old' Power Tripping Bastards worthy moderation.
-
Is that Why I see so many gaps?? How do you check which are and aren't federated. I want to see as many as possible, even if they're dipshit ones
-
Its also quite a tense time in the world. A lot of people are stressed beyond belief.
-
I'm going to kill you
-
Most of Lemmy was extremely hostile during the US elections but that has mostly passed.
-
Also on Lemmy you can see the moderation history for any user or comment.
https://lemmy.ml/modlog?userId=1660834
Do with that info what you will. It's very helpful sometimes when folks claim mod abuse.

Varies wildly from instance to instance. At this point, most instances have their own "culture" and ideological leanings, if you go against your instance's grain then you will run into more friction. I can help if you give a broad overview of your political leanings and interests, or you can browse the major instances and see which most appeals to you.

Leave it, only the Americans know what to do and progressive Europe... The rest of the Russians, the Chinese are stupid animals for them who can't do anything, don't know and shouldn't know! So....
