Built on Bluesky, Pinksky brings its Instagram-like app to Android

Given how things are going, I bet you're right. Maybe Musk will create a Bluesky instance (or whatever that federalized yet centralized thing is called).

Well hello there! Long time no see.
Yeah, lets see what happens.

Yes it does depend on the front end.
But that's the thing its not the default front end.
Most users will give up before discovering Photon.
The default experience should be very smooth and require little to no effort and thinking. Like what everyone has gotten used to

Misskey is fine on computer browsers (minus the absurd javascript resource hog, the page's first load is slow as fuck), but I don't think it has any decent FOSS app, mastodon apps don't necessarily connect to misskey

I see that I forgot to add a question mark and incurred the wrath of some very opinionated lemmy users.

Cool idea. But no thanks:

Really anything is better than the default UI. The default Lemmy-ui is functional but not elegant.
-
Voyager is just as good as Reddit now. Lemmy feels real and not full of bots. I’m starting the switch over now.

The funny thing is that this is completely impossible. Only very few, very big or very lucky projects have decent ux and i would even ague that they are THAT much better than proprietary stuff under the hood that they are still comically bad in comparison to their technical prowess.
The reason for this - and yes you will probably disagree - is the shit legislation we have accepted over the past decades. People got addicted to overpolished shitapps with gambling mechanics and dark patterns. The way out is gonna be brutal.
So no, we wont get better ux, preriod. We pay for it or we get buttfu**ed by big tech some more. One way to ensure payment is voting as comically left as you can.

I thought Bluesky was a messaging app like Twitter, not a code editor.

No. I'm using them interchangably here because they are interchangable here. It is as simple as that. If you want to invent a more convoluted train of thought that you want to ascribe to me (because you, of course, know what happens in my head better than I do), by all means, but it won't change what I meant. Nor will it get me to engage. You already spent every ounce of good will by inventing your own narrative. I'm not going to be a part of it.
