Lemmy.ml and its moderation, am I getting something wrong?
-
Yesterday I was reading the post about the FUTO keyboard where there were a lot of messages deleted by moderators.
I've commented thereWhat the heck happened with all the messages deleted by moderator?
And it got deleted. Right now you can only see 4, but I've counted 19 messages moderated and the post has been locked. Why?
I've had a look ad the modlog and the messages don't seems to violate any policy (now they've removed them in the modlog too).I'm pinging here lemmy.ml admin and the mods of the open source community where the post was posted so they can have their say about it and clarify the situation to me.

Thanks!Down here you can see the deleted comments.
P.s. I'm writing here because I think that this post on lemmy.ml wouldn't last long.

Don't post or engage with ML. Problem solved.
That instance is infested with scumbag tankies who white wash genocide, oppose self-determination for independent countries and support imperialismn and authoritarianism.

I don't really know much about lemmy development but isn't ml the official instance endorsed by its devs?

Yes, and the devs themselves are maoists.

FUTO keyboard isn't FOSS and that's a FOSS community. I don't see what the point of the thread is.

TL;DR is that Lemmy was originally created to make a Reddit alternative where communists could talk freely after they got tired of Reddit. Both .ML and Lemmygrad were created by the founders and were the most popular instances by far until we moved here.
Despite terrible moderation and really questionable activity, the devs never called ML the official instance and encouraged that people spread out to other instances. It's still known as the tankie instance today.

If you interpret their sub rule "Posts must be relevant to the open source ideology" in the strictest sense then I guess anything about FUTO is against their rules, since it isn't open source.
Still seems a bit dickish to delete comments like that. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
