Loops by pixelfied Is Doomed to Fail Because of Daniel Supernault

This person keeps spamming the fedi with a smear campaign since they got banned from a discord. Please read the last iteration of this and report this post: https://lemmy.giftedmc.com/post/1345296
Edit: My client obviously does not use links well.
-
That person has made an alt account. Probably got banned here too for smearing developers. Its absolutely disgusting how someone misuses the openness of the fedi to fight over petty reasons.
-
Lol an account over 1 year old and I'm actually having fun finding all these issues I can report to the Lemmy devs. I know people don't block because they like seeing what I do. It's like I'm like rich Sanchez playing Roy in Blips and Chit
-
For real. Who could ever understand why Dan banned them? It's a mystery..
-
Whatever you think you're doing, you're working currently against the fedi. That means in my book you're with musk, zuck and Jeff.
-
I'm not great with sarcasm so it made me double take. Yes, this person definitely lives a happy life, touches grass regularly and by no means is a elonazi Stan. They also write in French and backwards.
-
Lol that's awesome. I'm going to share that on the peertube life stream I actively support. So how am I working against the fediversem
-
This should have been your original post. I see where ur coming from now that we have more context.
-
I was wondering why OPs post looked so familiar... It makes so much sense now.
OP really needs to touch some grass.
-
Yeah a github repo creation date is pretty close to meaningless IMO.
It's the update history that matters.
A project being started, shelved, then revisited later is the name of the game when it comes to me, and I honestly believe that's pretty typical for large projects.
-
Nah I needed y'all triggered so I could go stress test this app and look for exploits to patch. But it's everyone else fault that they actually on no context and didn't bother to ask question
-
They're with musk, zuck and jeff? What does that even mean. I'm sure that person is not trynna do that. Y'all attesting malice to what can just be someone being stupid.
-
All the fediverse app you mentionned are microblogging apps. Do you know any instagram like fedi app as an alternstive to pixelfed?
-
(in case lemmy hides titles: direct reply above, this is more of a "acktually" rant)
i'd claim that instagram is a microblogging platform: your "blog" is a photo instead of 300 chars of text. implementation-wise, an "instagram fedi clone" is just a mastodon instance with >1 pic limit (rather than text) and that only shows you posts with attachments
because of this i'm rather stingy at "instagram clones" or "tiktok clones": they tend to be bait to grab users fast, and fail to deliver proper software. as OP notices, peertube is a perfect "tiktok clone" backend, the only thing it needs to be a "real" clone is an algorithm (good luck with that) and being able to scroll up/down videos in the frontend. there is zero benefit in reinventing the wheel from scratch with loops.video, as the focus ends up on "looking like tiktok" rather than "how do i serve super heavy content super fast to users without suffocating my infra". also the whole "dansup is at best sketchy and at worst abusive with his contributors".
so i'll ask you back: what do you want from an "instagram-like fedi app"? should it just require you to add a picture while posting and only show you posts with images? should put the image above the text? these requirements are fully clientside and don't require a separate server
i'm considering starting a kickstarter myself asking 1/10th of what dan is asking to make such an app, it's literally all UI. it would be 100% a petty move but fedi really needs to stop throwing money at sketchy devs. silverpill from mitra saw zero donations while doing the whole FEP thing, but dansup says "fedi tiktok" and gets 50k...

so iāll ask you back: what do you want from an āinstagram-like fedi appā?
A less buggy Pixelfed like app created by developers who really pay attention to user feedback. The platform should have a simple grid structure with no overlay text just the image. The default feed should be a chronological feed and lets users create collections of both their own and other people's photos. Comments and likes appear on the side when you click on an image and no stupid very limited characters limit like all the twitter like apps. Finally, all of your photos should be easily transferred during the migration procedure to another server. Otherwise people will just pick the biggest instances.
