What is going on at Bethesda?! And I mean this in most positive way possible. They just dropped Oblivion Remaster without months long drama, they are encouraging and rewarding modders who are working on their own Oblivion Remaster through Skyrim's engine. It's wild and I hope more corporate greed companies follow this and become less evil and more approachable and likable.

On the topic of modding skyrim.... is it possible to purchase skyrim these days in a form that is moddable? Even the GOG releases are all 1.6 or whatever that's too new for the built in mod support.

I think you can rollback the Steam version via Depot. GOG rollback doesn't go far enough I think but I'm sure the installers of the right version are available on the internet if you fly the black flag.

Thanks for the heads up. Maybe if it hits sub$10 on Steam I'll do that. It sucks I can't get the DRM free copy on GOG to play with mods. I haven't played since 2011 when I had a 360 and that was just vanilla.
As for yarr, I do for media files but never for executable code. I dont trust those fuckers.

To each their own. And I personally rarely pirate anything these days as I have an ever growing backlog from GOG and Steam sales. That being said I feel like Fitgirl Repacks is more trustworthy than some official publishers. Definitely contains less malware at least (looking at you, Denuevo).

Yeah my backlog is big enough that I never have to worry about Denuevo because if a game has it, I immediately lose interest.

Steam has special edition for sale. You can mod that to your hearts content.

Still $40 for me. I'll keep an eye out though. I dont like buying the same game multiple times so I'm definitely not paying full msrp.

Im sorry i just meant they're selling it. I agree 40 is too much for it. 30 is a good price for it though.
It's the anniversary edition that you don't want. You can still mod it, but it's not as convenient as the special edition.
