People are into vinyl and tube TVs again. Barnes & Noble just opened a huge branch in a hot (meaning: expensive) neighborhood here in Chicago. I guess people like physical things again.

I never cared for game informer. It always felt like GameStop was trying to shill it in order to sell subscriptions to a magazine that's basically a giant advertisement for GameStop.

Gimme those cooler magazines. Game Pro, Nintendo Power, PSM etc.

Game Informer always felt like the cheap knockoff to Electronic Gaming Monthly.

I see it in a different light. The people that were raised on digital goods finally have the money to purchase physical goods.

Might be both. I know a couple of 20s that love physical media. Its crazy to think about, but they stated their childhood was mostly screens and rectangles. They both like Vinyl which is crazy to me. They are working their first jobs too.

                Most magazines are just ads.

Interesting that the District 9 director is involved with the parent company.

I thought Game Informer had some cool stuff. I really liked the second opinion on reviews, that tiny box inside the full review. It was fun to pick a side when they were at odds.

Oh man. If you think game dev has been having a rough go of it lately, games media was already a smoking crater before all the waves of dev layoffs began. Now GI wants to dive back in and restart their print offering too? There are a bunch of good people over there and I'm happy there getting another chance unshackled from GameStop, but woof. Good luck!

Yes please. To quote time traveling reporter Ryan George "PLEASE bring me back to the 90s! The future is dumb, and nothing makes sense, and I hate it!"

Just enough money to buy some physical goods, but not enough to buy so many that storage becomes a problem…

I understand that they may never go to magazines but if GameInformer wants to give IGN and GameSpot some gaming journalist competition I'm all for it

I understand what you're saying about Game Informer, but it's hilarious you name Nintendo Power and PSM as alternatives, considering that.

I really liked GI and i was saddened by their closure. Quality journalism (gaming and elsewhere) is dying, substituted by AI slop, paid influencers and clickbait articles.

Hopefully a few of the good ones remain. This is a step in the right direction.

They could make good money on the nostalgia crowd with reprints.

I’d love a print of the advertising and coverage for Morrowind.
