has Nintendo already enacted the "we can brick your device whenever we want to" policy?

They seemed to have a lot of units available last weekend, so I’m sure that helped.
I’m really enjoying mine! It’s a good system.

Not sure. I saw a GitHub for a way to connect an nvme already though lol

I like how they call it the fastest eve selling. Honestly it's just had the stock available and demand present. Normally you only get demand with modern consoles lol

Was reading about it, apparently the first year is always supply constrained, not demand constrained (unless it's a complete flop or something), and Nintendo prepared a lot of supply.

But I thought everyone would boycott Nintendo for being too greedy and bricking everyone and their mother's device right after launch? And all the games play better on other platforms? And Nintendo is only for kids?
That right there is why social media, and especially Reddit, is circlejerk bullshit.

You say “just” like that’s not a feat in and of itself, especially considering how many console launches don’t?

Love my switch, but I honestly have no interest in Nintendo anymore. There are plenty of fantastic games around that don't require paying Nintendo prices.
Plus my old switch is still totally cormulent.

I've always wondered why they didn't hold off longer on other console releases to gather more stock for a release. But I'm sure it is indeed a feat like you mention.

Still a long way to go to match the 100+ million Switch 1 units sold. I got a Switch 2 but I've bought every Nintendo console including Wii-U so I'm not particularly representative.

I have too but skipped it until they bring out an OLED version

What are people thinking, switch 2 vs steam deck, and switch 2 vs switch 1?
I still play my switch often, not sure which way to jump if I were to upgrade.

I am happy with my Switch 1, and Switch 2 is exactly what I wanted, a backward compatible "better" Switch, like PS5 after PS4, so I am going with Switch 2.
On the other hand, if you don't care about Nintendo first party games, Steam Deck can be a good choice. Or if you can wait a couple of years, there might be Steam Deck 2, which will probably be better than both Steam Deck and Switch 2.

Upvote for use of the word cromulent, it doesn't get enough use.
Buying on launch is generally for hardcore fans. If you are happy with Switch, nothing wrong with waiting a while and seeing how Switch 2 looks in an year or so, and also how the rest of the gaming ecosystem is at that time.

Beating Switch 1 might be a tough one. Let's see how the year 2 and 3 sales number are first.

Yeah, everyone who has used OLED doesn't want to go back to the LCD version. It's possible they did it manage the price, or maybe they are just hoping for people double dipping if OLED is released later, or it could be the mix of both. Who knows.
