I don't think a schism would be needed. Many of the current cardinals are ultra-traditional and want to return to more firebrand/traditional policies. And that is because some of the most powerful orders within the church (for example Opus Dei) already align very closely with project 2025 ideologies. They would love to dovetail in with the project 2025 team, expand it into other Western countries, and drag the entire Catholic Church along with them.
