The Sims & The Sims 2 Legacy Collections - Official Reveal Trailer
-
EA Epic Steam Bundle Link Link Link The Sims Link Link Link The Sims 2 Link Link Link Additional notes:
- Both games have all the DLC (bar the IKEA collection for TS2 from I believe).
- Both games have the Denuvo DRM for some reason so keep that in mind if you're worried about it.
- The Sims 1 will still run at its original resolution, but will now scale pixels to make better use of larger monitors while preserving the look and layout of the game.
- Old save files and mods are compatible with this version of the game (TS for sure according to the help page, I'm not certain about TS2).

Denuvo for 20 year-old games??

Of course, EA would release something the community wanted with great desperation but taint it in the worst way possible at the same time. This is likely unplayable on Linux, given their pestilent EA App is required for validation. I've never been excited and then so disgusted, all within the space of 5 seconds.

EA App does work through Wine so that itself isn't a death sentence. Dunno about it mixed with Denuvo though.

Yup, apparently so.

I haven't had issues with Denuvo on Linux thus far. It's been a non factor.

Good to know, so these might be playable as well.

I keep seeing "have all DLC" but they seem to be conflating Expansion/Stuff Packs with actual Downloadable Content.
Does The Sims 1 contain all the Maxis website stuff? Is the downloadable Elle Woods no longer lost media?
Does the Sims 2 include all the downloadables from The Exchange? The downloads from Sims Store? The downloadable pre-order bonuses? The downloadable Christmas pack?

I've tried to like these games so much since the first one came out back in the day. I've played all of them, multiple times but can never go last one hour. I don't get it. I should like these games!

Why would that matter? Pirate the original if you want. Denuvo barely effects performance. That claim is so over exaggerated.

So if I'm reading these right, these are the same as downloading from an abandoned website but they've added drm? Uhhh I'll pass.

It just seems like an unnecessary headache, configuring Wine tends to be a mixed bag situation, at times it simply works and other times not so much. I don't know if I want to pay EA for the privilege to develop a headache because Wine is being precocious and annoying. Honestly, the Denuvo implementation killed my interest fast, I don't buy games with that anti-tamper software embedded in it, unless it can be turned off like in Steam's Easy Anti-Cheat. Thank you for the suggestion!

EA... EA never changes

I wasn't trying to imply anything else to be clear, just wanted to mention that their app on its own doesn't mean it won't work. I completely agree otherwise.

Both games did get some compatibility fixes but for the most part yeah.

You're fine, I was just stating my own opinion. As it's true, if I didn't have such an intolerance to certain barriers to entry...I could get this game to work easily. As weirdly enough, I will spend more than 10 minutes looking for obscure repositories to add to my distro to make something work (like Vintage Story, I needed an older Fedora 39 repo of .NET 7 to make the game run) even if a Flatpak exists. ROFL
I'm just a silly sausage, I took zero offense...If anything, my initial comment was too speedy and needed more consideration before posting it!
