within the law
lol
their death camps will be perfectly legal
They're not, but is that an excuse to be lawless too? If the enemy commits war crimes, how are you any better if you do the same?
-
At this point, my best guess is these guys just don't actually read any Punisher material.
wrote last edited by [email protected]They don’t. And to top it off they probably make fun of people who do read comics. Like when republicans were up in arms about Jon Kent being bi screaming “THEY MADE SUPERMAN GAY!” Mother fuckers, you don’t even know who the fuck Jon Kent is.
-
Just verification that they know their views are despicable at some level, even if they refuse to admit it to themselves.
and/or they looj at lex and worship him for all the wrong reasons.

> Superman doesn’t have politics in the sense I’m talking about.
> He’s just on the side of freedom, peace, and good.
Damn, you a dense one huh
No, they're saying the specific choices Gunn made with the story is politicizing it. Making it a direct, near 1-1 allegory with two major conflicts in the world right now is a touch on the nose.
... but that said, it's still a stupid position to hold. There is a lot of bad crap going on in the world. Chances are, most scripts with Superman doing his thing would have some association to current events, since it's set in a world close to "now" IRL.
Wanting entertainment to be devoid of modern politics yet set in current time is just silly. It takes drastically different settings to make it easy to have both a compelling story with conflict and devoid of modern politics.

I love his character, the actor really does a great job. But he's super evil. He's a great representation to the real world, as many people think there's no collateral damage too great to justify reaching their goal. Dehumanizing others, committing war crimes, hunger for power, forcing their beliefs onto others. I despise people like that.
But there are people who think otherwise: See this
Is he doing a great job? I thought he was just portraying himself.
Nah for real, if he's not a psychopath in real life, he must be a tremendous actor.

Batman is just a rich guy playing edgy superhero.
In batman the villians are the stars.Batman is a lunatic occasionally playing rich playboy to finance his crusade against crime, born from untreated trauma.
And most of his villains are just as insane as him.
Gotham is basically a vicious circle of maniacs driving each other further insane.

Because "woke"/liberal/left/PC mob/etc arent the exact same thing just coming from the other side? For every right wing grifter, theres a left wing grifter do the same thing. Winding everyone up.
Name a few.

If only they were arguing with themselves. The problem is everyone else who picks a side, and then jumps in arse first with a lot of opinions and very little information that isnt just headlines and buzzwords. People are so fucking angry all the time. And they blame the "other side" for it, not once considering that for every right wing grifter, theres a left wing grifter turning the screw just as hard in order to get likes, shares and subscribes.
Only the time of the online influencer became a thing, we were all fucked. Covid just accelerated to ludicrous speed, and now dark helmet is up all our asses.
Are you really comparing online influencers to actual governmental powers literally stripping our rights and caging people for having the wrong skin color in the name of theocratic fascism while supporting a literal “religious” genocide?
What the fuck is wrong with you?

I never said they lied, I said they were right and blind blind at the same time.
How can you be such a stupid bumbling sycophantic fuck stick?

Maybe a decent Superman game could emphasize the D in DC comics; and have you mostly play as Clark Kent trying to solve a mystery, occasionally using X-Ray vision or Super Speed to gather facts. A common challenge might be trying to get past a security desk to find answers without triggering any alarms or causing the guard harm.
Or they could do something like the One Punch Man game, where you can select Saitama and he will destroy anyone else without effort (unless it's a mirror match, in which case it's a normal fight). But, because it's Saitama, he's always running late.
So you pick teams of 3 and if Saitama is on yout team, you have to survive with just 2 until he gets there.
So a game where you play as someone else but superman can show up and stomp everything before going off to do something else could work. You've gotta survive until he gets there and maybe do things to get his attention or help resolve some other issue he's dealing with.

The funniest thing is that the superhero they have a problem with is Superman.
If it were Batman, that would be different. Batman isn't a pure-hearted hero, he's a more complex character. If it had been someone in the X-Men, or pretty much any Avenger other than Captain America, there would be room for a discussion.
But, Superman is such a good, kind-hearted hero that it's basically impossible to be a good person and be anti-Superman.

Right, the main complaint is that he's so perfect it's boring.
And also that he has a pretty Western/USA centric sense of morality, which you think Western chauvinists like conservatives would eat right up.

Somebody felt a little called out, huh?

In batman the villians are the stars.Peak human and "the greatest detective" of all time. Also with prep, basically unbeatable. Rich guy comes in with the gadgets and cave.

I liked the movie, but could have done without the messaging. I dislike political messaging in media even when I agree with the message, because I’m going to said media to escape reality. I don’t need a reminder about it, and I particularly don’t need some allegorical moral instruction, like I’m some sort of child.
I think there’s a place for political messaging in film—like when it’s the explicit purpose of said film—but I don’t like it being wedged in just anywhere.

What movies do you like that aren't political? I'm curious.

Sad but not unexpected.
They literally pointed it out in the movie.

Im so glad Im not American. It must be fucking exhausting keeping this dumb as fuck culture war going.
Not anymore, it runs off AI. All you have to do is feed the data centers catastrophic amounts of fresh water.

This is not normal. It’s ok to have things like a right wing and a left wing, a conservative side and a liberal side, so to speak. But it’s not ok for the right wing to be any further right than, say, Bernie Sanders.

Whether they deserve it or not, I won't dehumanize them; because I don't want to become someone who dehumanizes others.
I will certainly fight them, I will resist them, but I will not consider them anything but human.
Being a human is very, very different than having humanity. People need to realize these are humans ... who willingly betray their humanity.
They are literally and directly enemies of humanity, who need to be treated as such.
-

wrote last edited by [email protected]oh but history shows they were
we don’t have to guess how this plays out, educate yourself
‘better’ is for the strong and civilized, we are not strong in this mess and civil went out with Jan 6th
they’ve broken the social contract, they no longer deserve its protection
but it’s moot, this will go the same way it did in Germany

That's the excuse for Hamas to commit terrorist acts on Israel. It's also the excuse for Israel to commit the worst war crimes of this century by far. Lowering yourself to the level of the enemy makes you just as bad. Be better.
I think very little of them, I'm disgusted by them, I hate them with everything I've got, but I will not dehumanize them or justify crimes against humanity against them. No matter whether they would do that to me. They deserve consequences for their behavior. They need to be sentenced for their crimes. Legally, democratically, within the law. If we don't, how are we any different? They think they are better humans than others, you know, like the nazis. Untermenschen. If you're not a nazi, fascist or racist, you won't dehumanize others.
wrote last edited by [email protected]No matter who it is, people need to realize who are defending themselves and who are going out of their way to commit offenses. When it comes to politics, people conveniently forget bad people DO exist, on all sides.
It DOES NOT MATTER what is currently going on in the world. It DOES NOT MATTER if they claim to be humans. It DOES NOT MATTER if you want to continue calling them humans.
What you need to learn is... these are humans who willingly betray the humanity you claim to want to defend... yet you continue to defend them, all in the name of some childish idea of "justice".
I agree things should be done legally where possible. What you need to learn is the law is not good! It doesn't create justice. It doesn't create peace. They're just rules people are supposed to follow, good or bad.
What DOES matter, is people like you constantly running interference for literally and directly evil people. Stop equating people defending themselves with people who want to commit the offenses. There is a HUGE difference between someone doing something bad to defend their own freedom, and someone who wants to go out of their way to remove someone else's freedom.
You can treat them as humanely as you want. What you NEED to learn is... they are enemies of the humanity you want to protect! Literally, directly, enemies of humanity. Why do you insist on equating them with people on defense?
This is a topic about literal nazis, remember. Why do you equate people calling Nazis sub-human with nazis, when nazis are the ones who DIRECTLY AND WILLINGLY betray humanity? Why are you failing to defend humanity?
