I am looking for a simple to use VoIP provider that I mainly plan to use for 2FA (when a cell number is required). I know there are checks that sometimes prevent VoIP from being used but I figure it's worth a shot.

MySudo looks nice but they require Google play services to be installed, VoIP.ms looks nice too but I've had a hard time getting a hold of anyone there to help with activating my account.

    Anyone have any recommendations?

I've been using Anveo for a little over 12 years. I haven't had to touch it after I got the flow set up the way I like, other than paying the bill (it's prepaid). Works well for me.

MySudo sometimes will get messages from services that block google voice as voip but not always. I’m thinking about a cheap burner line..

The usual answer for programmable voip is Twilio. I've been using vitelity since I've been there for a long time, and their support is quite good, but they're less flexible than Twilio and cost a bit more. A DID (direct inward dial) number from them is $1.50/month instead of $1.

These numbers all terminate in data centers, and some particularly obnoxous websites check for that and won't do 2FA verification through them. Worst case, you could get a real cellphone and leave it in a drawer. There are some very cheap ones with 1 year plans on qvc.com (search for tracfone). QVC seems cringy as hell but I'm a bit tempted anyway. There are also some on tracfone.com but QVC has more choices.

Been with VoIP.ms a long time. So long that I don't really know what alternatives are out there. It works for me. I've never required any support though, so not sure about your activation issue.

voip.ms has been great, and I was able to get help through the chat window basically immediately each time I needed it
