To be fair the poor little thing has had a few hot suppers, but it sometimes makes what I can only describe as a high pitched groan of pain? As it shuts down sometimes?

Well if it dies I'll just go to Harbor Freight and buy that dust collector they've been advertising.

Thing is it isn't a fancy vacuum. It's a Shop Vac brand shop vac, a motor, an impeller, a plastic bucket and plastic casters.

Lincoln St. Woodworking just did a review on the vac you're probably talking about. Only complaint was it's size.

I think they've made those for years with bushings instead of bearings on the impeller shaft, and when it's clapped out, it's done.

              Yup, that's the death groan.

It'll run for a few more weeks and eventually it'll start making that sound all the time and then the motor will freeze up and then magic smoke will signal that the electricity demons have exited its earthly form.
