The solution to many problems

Dutch tobacco? the whacky kind?
wrote on last edited by [email protected]Halfsvere Shag. Finely shredded rolling tobacco like Drum or Ball Shag. I rolled my own smokes before I quit. The aroma, in my opinion, is dreamy, especially compared to American cigarettes.
If Bali Shag released incense sticks, I'd seriously consider purchasing them.

You're both being pretty shitty guests, please just leave my daughter's birthday party.
You're going to have to call the police, buddy.
-
Take a deep breath, it was just a joke.
You sound like you need a cigarette.
Talking about taking deep breaths...

I smoked from the time I was 15, until I was 33. I got a prescription for something called Chantix that worked really well for me to quit permanently.
It worked well for a few people I knew, but one guy said it made him really depressed / suicidal.
Chantix isn’t available anymore because of something that was in it that might cause cancer, but there’s a generic form of it called varenicline that may or may not be available in your country. Ask your doctor maybe if there’s a pill that will help you quit.
This reads like a Pharma advert.

Yes, smoking takes years off your life.
But they're the years at the end....

I stopped smoking a while ago now.. but boy do I miss it sometimes lol.
Don't smoke kids.

Holy pearl clutching.
Lemmy can be so stereotypically "well actually" annoying. Any light-hearted whatever topic will be filled with douchenoozles pearl clutching.

I don't think people smoke because they feel like shit doing so, quite the opposite imo

Tell me about it! I had to accept that part of quitting involved forever missing something, but knowing I'm better off without it.

I yearn for that strength. I'm sure I'll quit one day

How I feel about my (soon to be ex-) wife...

I live alone and actively wish I could die. I'm not hurting anyone but myself.
I am glad that it's not cool with the younger generations, and that the whole vaping fad kinda died back.
Still though, the amount of self righteousness and lack of empathy from some non smokers really makes me glad that I will never have to hang out with those types of people.
Addiction is a hell of a thing, and when the alternative is worse than quitting, it's extremely difficult to quit.
Smokers are addicts that it's "morally acceptable" to shit on. The self righteous love it.

Man if only that was true. A neighbor across the street is a chain smoker, and I hear him hack up a lung every morning for a couple of hours.
Yeah smoking will make you live shorter, but it'll also reaaaally fuckin' ruin your life leading up to that.

But if you smoke, you don't notice other smokers smelling like shit, which is nice.

That feeling will disappear eventually. I rarely even think about it even when I see smokers now. If I'm out drinking though that's a different story...

I'm just some Lemmy user, I can't fix the world
Not with that Attitude!

Boy do I love tobacco.
Good News! Cigarette Juice!

It is voluntary. Being a creep is a learned behavior and can be unlearned. I'll admit it's systemic but it's our(M/Society) responsibility to change that.
Definitely
The sentence part after "but" is in direct conflict with thee first.
I dont think it is. You can avoid being shot on the street by not leaving your house. The blame lies with the shooter but you could avoid it if that was your goal.
This should have been a separate paragraph, it's a different idea even if in context. This still let's predators off the hook by assuming their motivations and behavior are "natural" or "innate" in a way that can't change.
Thats not what Im saying at all and I dont think my comment made it sound like that. Im 100% convinced that predators are at fault and should be the ones being punished. Maybe my comment was unclear, Im not a native speaker.
Theone thing humans do well is learn. It's one of our few evolutionary advantages. The "limits of your freedom" don't have to include predatory behavior if you don't identify it as part to your autonomy or self. Not sure what you mean exactly but I wasnt talking about predators' freedom.

Isn't that just the point again though? Expressing suicidal thoughts is literally reaching out for help while being fully aware of the risk. If we accept those who impose that risk then we stigmatize reaching out for help. If we tell women to dress differently to avoid the risk we tell them the creeps are valid.

Yeah probably just a wording/text forum/secondary language thing. See below.
Not sure what you mean exactly but I wasnt talking about predators' freedom.
Probably same confusion as above.
So the talking points you're making, at least in form and not intent, parallel arguments from evangelicals and other extreme right or fascist types. After talking I know you didn't intend anything close to those viewpoints. However, I don't feel it would have been appropriate to leave a statement unaddressed if there was a chance of interpretation in the malignant sense.

Might be that the only one that gets any fresh air into their office is the one closest to the smoker.
I think a box fan is like $20. Have one that blows air OUT of the window that's closest to the smoker... have a different box fan bringing fresh air IN from a different window.
JFC it's like everyone enjoys being helpless.
