you're correct, the n-word was just one of many common and non-loaded casual swears
-
You are being ignorant not the other commenter.
Just because you think a word is offending anyone somewhere doesn't mean that the person who used that exact word intended to be offensive against someone anywhere in the world.
The word just has a different meaning to some people.
-
Again, not what I said. Do you actually want to talk? Or do you want to keep throwing insults my way? I'm not a hateful person and I don't appreciate your attacks.
-
Chill, she is ignorant, not you

Called out, deleted comment. The actions of an innocent man, lol. Crawl back under your rock.

Funny thing about that: it doesn't actually matter if he self-identifies as a Nazi or not what he intended; the shit he did radicalized people into Nazis all the same.
-
It only doesn't seem fair because those two aren't hiding it.
-
So what are the "other" meanings of the n-word. Educate me. In fact, use it in a sentence if it's not a problem. Use the full word in a sentence, without censoring it, right here, in the reply to this comment. See if anyone will agree with you then.
Be brave, do it, put your money where your mouth is.
-
It probably could have been better worded I confess. If that's how it read than I don't want it. Do you want to talk? I think we're more similar than we are different. I understand you have strong feelings about it, I really do. I agree with you more than I disagree. I'm trying to be open are you?

Thats not me. Learn to read usernames.

still waiting for you to show me that the n-word has different meanings, as per your other comment:
Demonstrate to us how to use the n-word in one of the 'other' contexts where it is not a racial slur.
-
My apologies. I'm tired and stressed. I'm debating with strangers on the internet about a dumbass youtuber when I just want to sleep.
-
There's nothing to discuss. You say you hold the opinion that the n-word should not be used by a white person. I agree, I just have higher standards than you apparently.
-
He seems to be better at computers than Linus Sebastian.
-
No meaning at all. Those who use it don't think about it. They do not put deeper meaning into it. It just sounds funny, cool, whatever. Often, the reaction of others is the reward for the person using it.
I'm not too sure why this is difficult to understand.
There was no inclusive language 100 years ago in all societies. This has to develop and is especially difficult because new people are born every year and many do not get the highest education.
Moreover, you think it is insulting to you or anyone somewhere but there are many people who do not think that it is offensive. There are also many removed who use it and don't think it is offensive. Just like there are many disabled people who don't think using some words isn't offensive.
It's always subjective. We are currently not born into a slur free, inclusive society that respects each other and is mindfulness. Most people simply do not care and don't know it better. People are dumb.
-
no, it is just as bad because it is in English. the swedish word derived from "negro" has different connotations and has historically been used as a descriptor rather than an insult, but we can read american history.
-
The fuckin cope on this guy, lol.
Show us all how you would use the n-word without it being a racial slur.
-
It took some minutes to write. Sorry for being too slow for you https://lemmy.ml/comment/16869109

Can you just appreciate that people are realizing it's possible instead of brow beating about when it became a thing?
