If you're wondering why he didn't just go rogue and save everything anyway, Cain noted ownership disputes are not to be taken lightly: "They told me to destroy it. I did … When you're being threatened with a lawsuit, you delete it all."

democracy fails when people fail to stand up

Cain bent over as soon as they whipped it out

Isnt any source Code considered a company secret? I know no company that would allow company secrets on personal PCs.

I cant believe I defend Bethesda that i've been shitting on since Fallout 4.

And yet most companies allow you to access email from personal computers/phones.

Tim Cain worked for Interplay on the original Fallout games. Not really relevant to Bethesda.

Also this is an old story with a happy ending. The source code is not lost, and it's possible it may get released at some point if it hasn't already.

So we need a network of IP lawyers to defend little guys against the huge publishers. A game isn’t worth civil (actually it would probably be criminal) liability and a resulting personal bankruptcy over.

Is the painting ‘The Starry Night’ worth it?

What did you try to say then? I don't get the idea behind the comment.

Btw, if I logged into my Email Account from a private device, I would get in huge trouble. Arent companies usually like that when it comes to IT?

They are not, generally, no. And as you know, whether you send secret info or not, company secrets can be stored on any number of devices, phones/laptops/etc.

I'd say no, but I also do not have much appreciation of art in my bones. Better a guy not have his life ruined with expensive lawsuits than release a game, no matter how many folks on the internet call it bending over (as if penetration makes you weaker or lesser, or is always undesirable because you're a manly man and penetration is for weak gays or girls. I don't like it, but some do! Gotta deconstruct those assumptions, and as stupid and annoying as it sounds, this insult both runs on and helps perpetuate those assumptions. And no, I am not perfect on this considering I have used "suck my nonexistent dick" before and probably should not have, but hey, at least that was directed towards hypothetical jerks instead of a real human being).

I write software for my job. when I'm let go or quit, it's usually not a good time. I maliciously comply with all requests.

tell me to return company assets in the original state it was received? cool, wipe the drive and reinit the OS. where's all the keys? where's all the scripts? where's all the patches in the software? they're gone Dave, I wiped them in accordance to requests from HR. good luck, you're going to need it if you ever hope to get into the server again.
