Just your daily reminder that the President of the United States is a raving lunatic who, were it not for an accident of birth, would right now be sitting in the corner of a seedy bar somewhere mumbling toothlessly into a beer.

Well yeah! A crisis like that is a good excuse to never hold elections again, Constitution be damned.

He’s a raving lunatic with the most powerful army in the world at his disposal, who has threatened to annex multiple sovereign states - and no checks or balances.

He'd have died a long time ago.

Good luck keeping that military fueled, fed and maintained for more than a couple of months when embargoes start to hit and your resource supplies stop flowing in from the countries he's pissing off.

That's not what Trump has in mind. And it's not what Greenlanders want. In fact, being American right now is not what anyone wants.

He’s trying to become Putin 2. Just invading everyone near by to add them to their federation. He’s like a dragon needing more gold.

If it comes down to it, the question becomes how much fuel and goods do they have in their supply chain.
Canada is:
60% of their crude oil and most of their refineries are built to only handle it, the only alternative is Venezuela, and they can't supply the same amount.
90% of their Potash, no other country can supply the same amount. Required for modern farming.
60% of their Aluminium, no other country can meet the supply. They also lack the smelters to produce it, even if the ore can be sourced.
100% of their peat. Required for modern farming.
90% of their Vanadium. Critical to a stupid amount of industrial processes. This is on top of the hundreds of billions Canadians spend on US goods and services each year.
If they try anything stupid, their entire system will dry up.

Assume he would, what do y'all think will happen? Technically I guess all NATO countries should defend Greenland, which means war with the US, which means kick-starting WW3. On the other hand, if the US attacks NATO is there even an alliance left? I think there might very well be countries who, when faced with the option of cowardice or war with the US, will say "fuck it, NATO is void and we really don't want to be nuked over Greenland".
If at all possible, I'd really love it if we can postpone WW3 until after I'm dead.

I hope you’re right. I think that billionaire seeing markets dry up might be the only thing to slow it down though. With Canada, the USA has most if not all the natural resources it needs.
