Dalai Lama says successor will be born in ‘free world’ outside of China

What would be really cool, was if the kid didn't belong to a Tibetan buddhist family. It was just some random kid in rural Alabama. Think about it: "We have found the 15th Dalai Lama! It's a boy called Billybob Jackson"
There's sort of a King of the Hill episode about that. Bobby inadvertently gets put in the mix when a group of Buddhist monks visit Arlen looking for a reincarnated person (I forget who exactly), much to the dismay of both Hank and Khan. Then he ends up seeming like he might actually the person they're looking for, except the visiting monk ultimately decides that he is not the right choice.

I'm still disappointed he's not an actual llama.

Seemed like cognitive decline to me when he did that. My grandma started making rape allegations near her end and saying absolutely unhinged sexual nonsense.
Maybe it was just something she never spoke on when she was not in decline. So many women choose not to speak out because they are revictimized and tried in the court of public opinion forever.
ETA: I'm not saying anything about the Dalai Lama, but about women.

This has already been pretty heavily discussed down below.
Take aways: don't be racist judging by a sexualised western lens. If there's more, you'd think that the PRC would have had everyone shouting it from the root tops by now right?
As for the corporeal punishment, the most extreme cases had already been legislated against in the decades before 1951.
But even if they hadn't, which they had, I don't think you agree that human rights deficiency is justification for invasion and annexation. The Qing Empire's slow slicing and other forms of corporeal punishment, child sex cases, etc., didn't justify Imperial Japan, the British, Germans, or whomever's, imperial expansion.Reformed theocracy as a form of government is peachy keen then? LOL. "We said we're sorry and we won't do the eye gouging thing anymore, now let us resume the child abduction."
As soon as the US gives all the land back to natives and pays reparations to blacks and repatriates the money stolen from workers by the capitalists I'll consider the idea of China relinquishing Tibet back to the theocracy (I probably won't to be fair since we know that will never happen).
Also tongue sucking is a Tibetan greeting now is it? How TF you can say "western sexualized lens" with a straight face is mind boggling.

The man has worked all his live to bring Buddhism closer to the West
The man is a CIA stooge who hasn't done anything productive in his life. He's the closest you could get to an exiled Marie Antoinette crying about the rights of French people being oppressed after they kicked her out. He wants to bring back feudalism and essentially slavery to Tibet because he would be part of the few nobles reaping all the benefits.

I mean she made a new rape allegation every single day, sometimes the accused was a real person. It was horrible and an ethical nightmare.
I misunderstood. I interpreted it as in her past.

Could be peachy, we won't know since their self governance and ability to have their own Tibetan characteristic revolution has now been completely quashed.
I linked the other comment for a reason. If Tibetans and people from that culture don't seem to think it's a big deal, I'm inclined to agree them rather than trample over them because they're backwards ignorant savages who don't understand things.
Obvioisly though, coerced child adopting isn't a good thing. But it is much down in the other PRC regions and Nepal too, I don't see why that trend wouldn't've applied to an independent Tibet.
Part of opposing imperialism is to be against it whenever it happens. If you're only against imperialism when one said does it, your not anti-imperialism, you're just anti-that other side.

Not in this life anyways

I think it's a little racist to remove agency from people who've made moves equally validly explained as self-defence and preservation against a hostile invader.
You forget imperialism is OK when China does it

Does seem to be the case, they also seem to have no follow up to researched rebuttals of their talking points.
Edit: although the person I was responding to does seem to be not, if not anti, Marxist-Lenninist. Maybe they're Dengian or Maoist...
