Pretty disappointed that Mastodon went with "quoter's text on top" for QTs rather than text on bottom. I think there's a good chance it will lead to a steady rise in dunk culture on Mastodon that will make the atmosphere here permanently nastier and more clout-farmy. I would love to know what the rationale there was, besides "that's the way it works on [other deeply toxic platforms that mastodon is attempting to position itself as a better alternative to]".

@Mastodon What were the arguments for "quoting text above quoted post" over "quoting text below quoted post"? This is going to create a "dunk culture" on Mastodon with no upside beyond "works how it does on [toxic platforms that Mastodon positions itself as a better alternative to]".
What is your plan for dealing with the cultural problems this will create? "You can disable quotes, but it won't retroactively remove your post from a harasser's timeline" is bolting the door too late.
