    ...dogpile introduced me to google when it was a brand-new service: i noticed that all the best results increasingly came from the same search engine, so eventually i cut out the middleman and just started using google directly... ...how times have changed; i haven't used google for years...

    In the real world, your life depends on being accepted into that group or migrating to another place while having huge losses and problems due to it later on. Just because the punishment isn't as strong doesn't mean that the system functions differently. You are also going to run into issues where established communities may have issues moving. I'm not sure i agree because an admin can also be protested against and they can share ownership But that isn't baked into Lemmy. That is a decision you made outside of Lemmy. Even then, is there a case where your instance could run without you? If not, you are still acting as an enlightened dictator.

    Yeah, plus even carburetors engines don't burn more fuel being on a gear than on neutral so there's literally never an advantage to do that. People should just remember that cruising in neutral is not good, period.

    Hard to have a nuanced opinion on this issue since I'm not directly affected by it. From what I can observe some of my gay friends use slurs in a humourous way to make light of the reality that not everyone in society is cool with them being themselves. They seem to enjoy being transgressive and think they have a license to do so in this case (I'd probably argue that they do). idk maybe "reclaiming" was the wrong phrase; it's more like gallows humour or something.

    Now do the same with Barcelona, just tried it and got at least one Catalonia flag, as I was sure I would since there are lots of people with flags in their balconies here. Although I don't think people are the "bad" kind of nationalist here, it's more of an independence feeling.

    For me? Panasonic Thoughbook CF30. I had one. Quite an impressive thing at the time. And sturdy as fuck - I carried mine through the jungle, for more than 100.000km around the world. It had a fucking hard drive and lcd heater for colder environments and mobile broadband. And you literally couldn't destroy it. Mine wasn't outpaced or destroyed, it took Air France and Paris CDG to kill it -they stole it.

    Yeah, anyone subscribing to girls on onlyfans is an idiot. How are they incels? They’re involuntarily celibate. They’re paying girls on the internet to pretend to like them because real girls don’t. Onlyfans isn’t a “scam”. People are paying for porn and they’re getting it. Where’s the scam?

    Arguably, being muscular is a male beauty standard. I would very much prefer it if men had more freedom of expression, though.
